I would chose the one with the best price. You can modify both to your liking afterwards. Test Ride both, or even the 1200 iron (same engine as the 48) and decide. Maybe the forwards aren’t what you are looking for. Prices for Sportsters are increasing here since you can’t get them anymore new.

but yeh I've been bouncing back and forth between the Iron883 and the 48, being a little on the taller/bigger side the forward controls of the 48 are way more comfortable and I prefer the look, but they are more expensive to start with… I know I could modify an iron to have a similar layout but by the time I've done that it's probably going to work out a similar price to having just got the 48 to start with...
Did you test ride both? How you feel when riding should be most important.
These bikes keep their value. So if you can afford it, the 48 would be the better choice. Upgrading the 883 will never add the value to the bike what you invest in it. -
Last time I traded in a Harley, the salesman said to me you have a lot of nice upgrades,but I can’t pay you for them and he winked at me. I took the bike home and took off anything that I might be able to use on the new bike or sell. I think the rule of thumb when you’re trading in a bike is that you probably get about 40 cents on the dollar for your upgrades.

bought a new 360 cam today. went for a 10min test and play about. looking forward to doing more adventures and videos!!
-
@louisbosco You're a f'n badass!!! Very, very cool!!!
-
@goosehd thanks mate! I hope to shoot more as I do more weekend trips up to Malaysia.
-
@louisbosco Just absolutely freaking amazing. Felt like I was accelerating with you.
-
The cam is called Insta360 One RS. Brilliant modular design so you can swap out any parts should future upgrades come. The twin pack comes with a normal 4K and 360 lens. I got the motorcycle bundle as well which came with loads of adhesive/ mounts.
Biggest takeaway for me was how impressive the wind noise cancelling is. I have a drift helmet cam and that one is bad even at low speeds. Picked up the slightest wind noise there was.

In case you fancy seeing yourself as a gta character. You can get a belt with a selfie stick mount.
-
no worries G. hope to share more in the coming weeks!
-
Great stuff @louisbosco . Never heard of that cam before and you are right, the wind noise suppression is impressive. I look forward to future postings of your images on motorcycles. I just may follow your example…
By the way, does it require a ton of messing around with software to be used, downloaded, charged, etc? I’m getting to that life stage where if I don’t find it simple/intuitive, I quickly lose interest. Do you use and IOS or Android phone? First impressions are that it is more Android-friendly?
Thanks for sharing this stuff!

@motojobobo cheers mate.
I think they are quite edit-friendly overall. I'm on iOS but I personally find it a hassle editing on a mobile device. they have their own app and I have not used it much. but from videos I've seen, their app has plenty of functions you can use. it connects directly to your phone and you can edit right away.
I've done editing on both the mobile and laptop app and they're both with ease. but with anything new, I think it takes a bit of playing around with to app before I'll say I am smooth. I think this camera would make great content for mountain roads being able to record the scenery and the ride itself.
here's one I saw of the effects there are available in the app.

Second test around dusk, just after work..
had already recorded this before I looked into the camera settings and found out that I was meant to change it. ️
stereo was default.. -
@Giles darn it. must've gotten a smudge on the lens. my bad..
-
@louisbosco I've seen quite a few different bike videos and they all blur in the same spot. I think it must be magnetic interference from the CIA/NSA/GCHQ/etc. implanted tracking devices causing the camera to blur in that specific area. When the one in the bike is in close proximity to the one's implanted into each of us, it must cause quite the disturbance and the camera's can't handle it…(maybe tinfoil will help block all of the signals)
I guess you'll just have to live with it. Otherwise the videos are great and the pictures are super clear...
Awesome work and keep posting!!!

@goosehd ahahaha brilliant! it's tough work adjusting to live with the chips but I'll try my best to cope.
also cheers! hoping for a longer road trip soon!
