IH-634-UHR - Ultra Heavy - Straight Cut Jean
-
@ksozay I have the 666 and the Beatle Buster in this denim so I think it should be the same. It was very stiff when it was raw, but after soaking it softened a little and became a different pair of pants. Then it got much softer after 2 or three days of wear. Within 7-10 days it really softened up. Not like 21oz, but way softer than raw. If these were mine I would soak them right away, just keep in mind they will shrink quite a bit. Even post soak it took a couple days for the jeans to kind of fall into place as well.

On the BB I did what they recommend and did a cold soak for a couple hours then I did a warm wash with no soap or spin. Inside out. Hang dry. They shrunk about an inch in the waist and the length, waist stretched back out to original size. 666 got hot soaked and washed with soap and shrunk a lot. I found the BB recommendation to be the best way. If you search the DWCBB thread there is some discussion about how to do this. Please note I'm no expert on this though, I'm just a casual wearer, but I do believe soaking these jeans is the way to go.

Good luck @ksozay. I bet you'll get them right. Here is a link to the DWC page with a picture of the soaking instructions that worked well for me. It is the picture of a written letter that has the instructions.

Nice fit @mahlon321. Looking great. How many wears, washes, soaks, etc? Also what size did you go with and was it your "normal" IH waist size?
One of these days I will man up and pick up a pair of these beasts.

Thanks @manufc10! I got these mid-Sept and have worn them more or less exclusively since then. After the initial wash/soak/shrink they've been washed roughly once a month since then. So 4 washes I'd reckon. I don't really keep track.
These are a tagged 33 and measure that. All of my Iron Hearts are currently sitting at a 33" or 33.5" waist measurement.
666D tagged 34 measure 33.5
634S-B (the overdyed ones) tagged 32 measure 33 now after some stretch.
MBB's tagged 33 measure 33.
TW666N tagged 33 measure 33.5
My actual waist measures 33".
I could easily go to a tagged 32" in these for a slimmer fit, but these fit great and were super comfortable right from the start.
Anyway, I hope this helps. -

Thanks again.

Thanks for the input @den213 and @mahlon321. The only things that are holding me back is I am working on my 634 21oz pair right now (4 months of wear in to them) and the next pair I want to cop are the 14oz pair coming up for the summer. Although IIRC Giles said that they broke the loom that they used to make this 21/23oz fabric so it's possible that they will never be made again. Maybe I should just buy a pair and hold them in my closet till next winter…hmmmm...there's only two pairs left in my size.
@Giles, have you hear any more information regarding Haraki's attempt at finding another loom to make this fabric?

@manufc10 - don't sleep on the 21/23 UHR material. Its TOTALLY different than the 21oz and is the perfect contrast for the 21oz flagship to have in any collection. if I had to pick 3 denims to have from IH id would definitely be the 21/23 UHR, 21oz flagship and the 19L fabrics. All are so unique, yet characteristically Iron heart. I had to give my UHR some extra "push" with 3 soaks+washes to get them to shrink, but I'm like @mahlon321 - I just wash them often and they feel better and better every time.
Best of luck and post some pics if/wen you get a pair!

Thanks for the enabling…..I mean input @Appfaff .

but seriously that's good info from all of you guys and you are probably right @Appfaff, I probably shouldn't sleep on these.

Just loving my 634UHRs! They've become so soft recently, I don't want to take them off. I've worn them for (office) work most weekdays since May 2015. I didn't soak them first, but they've had quite a few washing machine washes (30C or cold, inside out and 1400 rpm spin), been worn in the bath and scrubbed once, and brushed a few times.

these are awesome @mahlon321 ! Just my kinda fades! Love how the UHR does vintage looking, even with the heft. Keep rocking them!
