IH-633S - Self Edge x Iron Heart 21oz Selvedge Straight Tapered

@FireGX I get the feeling that people are running out of suggestions and you still haven't gotten a satisfactory answer, so let's try approaching this from a different angle, because if you're like me, you're waking up every morning thinking "What the hell am I going to do with these jeans?"
Everyone is going to have a opinion on what looks good, but your opinion is the most important. With that end in mind, do you have a pair of jeans that you think look good on you? If so, can you post their waist, thigh, rear rise, front rise measurements (using the Iron Heart measurement methods)? It might be easier for us to tell you which cut and tag size might come close to those ideal measurements if we had them.
-
@Paul9221 you read my mind! I've been sitting at home with the jeans, reading everyone's comments, and thinking about what feels right to me. Thank you everyone for sharing your feedback with me.
I think my best fitting pair I have at home currently is a pair of Uniqlo's Kaihara denim. The measurements (IH way) are as follows:
Waist = 32"
Front Rise: 10.25"
Back Rise = 15.6"
Thigh = 12.5"
Knee @13" = 8.5"
Hem = 7.25"I attached fit pics of my Uniqlo pair.
The 633S from SelfEdge have the following measurements currently after wearing them at home here and there, sitting around, etc for a few days:
Tag Size 31
Waist = 33.5" (note, listed size chart on SE's website says 31.5" but they don't measure the IH-way; my guess is IH-way measurement would've been 32-32.5" originally)
Front rise = 10.25"
Back rise = 14.6"
Thigh = 12.25"
Knee@13" = 8.6"
Hem =7.5"The 633S is admittedly a little loose on the waist right now, but they're held up in place with my glutes. I aimed for a larger waist measurement than my Uniqlo pair as I need to size for my thighs, but also because the Uniqlo pair was a touch uncomfortable when sitting down at the waist button. Funny enough, despite the larger waist measurement of the Iron Hearts, they're still a touch tight when sitting down at the waist button, but I think I'm learning that this is actually due to the pair being slimmer overall in the glutes area.
I think if I sized down on the 633S the thighs would be too tight. I think the 888 cut in size 31 might be the best alternative from Iron Heart but I'm a bit worried they might stretch out too much; I've previously worn a couple pairs of Tanuki high tapered denim and they all end up sitting closer to my hips and sagging creating a diaper butt effect.
Currently, I'm leaning towards keeping the 633S and just seeing how things go as they do feel comfortable sitting around at home, even if they are slightly slimmer in the thigh to knee area. I am wondering if I am making a mistake and if the waist will keep stretching and stretching.
-
@FireGX man, I think the 888 cut would be perfect for you. I'm looking at the 888Sib measurements, the 31 would give you a slimmer waist with room to stretch plus a bigger thigh. You could always order one and return it if you don't like the fit, but I have a feeling you will.

Hi everyone,
Thanks again for the input. I've decided to return the 633s! I was able to try a pair of 888s locally (though not in the 21oz that I wanted) and the waist was snug but I could still get the top button done. I think the thigh to knee area should be good if I get the 21oz as well (the 14oz overdye I tried seemed a tad tighter on the legs, but this makes sense to me since the knee measurement is a bit smaller per IHUK website vs 21oz. The 14oz fabric may just be more rigid as well). The butt area on the pair I tried on seemed a touch on the slim side as well but perhaps it'll work out with a bit of wear, especially if I get the 21oz indigo fabric.
-
I don't personally think that the thighs look too tight (imo they look pretty dead-on, actually) but I do agree with peeps that the waist looks too big. The 21oz is one of the most forgiving denims and stretches a lot, so it's not a bad thing at all if the waist feels tight when you first get em.
Also agree that the 888 is worth checking out. I'd go with IH's size chart over Self Edge's as a general rule, though.

Anyone know if these will ever be available in overdye "B" version? Would LOVE this.
-
@yuffington @kiya may/will know the answer to this one.
-
They have both the 14 and 18 oz denims in this cut, overdyed.

I want's the 21!!!! What can I say, it's glorious.
-
@Matt Ok. Perhaps I should seek these out.
-
I think they’re worth the investment. The old school 18 oz Beatle Buster were my FW23 main pair.
You may already know this but SE doesn’t measure the same way IH does. If you aren’t near one and can’t try them on you may want to check their How We Measure info on their website to make sure. Please let us know how you make out.

I don't know if my pair was mislabeled, but it's a tag 32 with a 34.2 inch waist...
The current measurements on SE seems more in line with the tag sizes, but it's definitely something to be aware of if anyone is looking for a pair of these on the secondary market.
