The Evolution of Iron Heart
-
@shubharamani:
July will be here before you know it Seul. And after IH, I can totally understand why you'd want to get rid of your other jeans. I've gone through wardrobe purging myself, after Iron Heart walked into my life.
Mind you, I have Flat Head, Samurai, and Oni jeans. So it's not as if I'm stuck with lousy jeans… It's just that the fit, the feel, the details; everything just works out perfectly with the SExIH07.

If you knew how many pairs I sold and bought in 2009 (only to keep a couple I was 100 % satisfied with), you'd think I was crazy. EASILY 15-20 pairs… I bought about 5 pairs of Sams alone, just to give you an idea... :-\
Wow, that's a high turnover. Costly learning fee for the trial and error there. Like Shuba, I wouldn't go through that myself.
On the Evo site, the 634SR get worn every day these days. Seeing a little more color come off but not enough difference yet to post evo pics. Sorry.

I have a pair of Imperials with a vintage finish after washing them weekly for a year. It all depends on what you want. If you want a high contrast fade, then never wash them. If you want a vintage fade, wash them more frequently
I personally don't care enough to do one or another. If they're feeling grody, I'm washing them. That being said, I hand wash, not machine wash.
I'll probably wash my SEXIH07 this weekend, which I'm sure people will be gasping about.

Just found this…

The following are posts from the "Iron Heart" thread on Superfuture. I contacted JackCrank by PM and asked him if he would please sign up on here and post his IH-9301's for all to see, but he declined. He said he only has time for one forum at a time, but told me I could post these up if I would like. I opted to do so as these should be seen by everyone. Hope this helps resolve some questions.
@JackCrank:
Iron Heart 9301's bought Sept. 8th, 2009. Worn every single day give or take (I think two warm days).
Original Condition
After 4 months and about a week:
@JackCrank:
Anybody have issues with the back pockets on their IH's wearing out pretty quick? I've only had these for about 4 months. (Warning: I'm ride a bicycle every day but I'm not doing full days messenger work any more, really just commuting and riding around for transport.)
@JackCrank:
Damn, just got 100% schooled by Kiya. Apparently, actually washing them every once in a while keeps them from wearing through as fast. That guy and Self Edge in general are awesome. Thanks Kiya.
@JackCrank:
Funny you mention it, I was just coming here to post the repair job I just had done on my 9301s. Somehow I managed to basically rip off half the left ass pocket, get a nice little case of crotch blowout going, and wear a nice big hole through the right ass pocket.
Thanks to Self Edge NYC and Stanton Tailor for making them whole again.
Here's the inside:
From the outside:
@JackCrank:
Thanks to Self Edge NYC and Stanton Tailor for doing a great repair job on my IH9301's. Took about a week but this shit is bulletproof. Andrew is a good man.
@JackCrank:
Oops! Forgot to post the coolest repair shot. I'm really impressed with this tailor. Shit feels bulletproof.
Sorry to flood the thread, just want to rep Stanton Tailors and Self Edge. Look man, jeans are jeans are jeans. Shit breaks down over time. I definitely made the mistake of not washing them which probably escalated the deterioration.
I just wish they came with a patagonia warrantee sometimes…
@JackCrank:
Much appreciated man. Basically, I have no idea what to do with pants other than wear them a lot. I really own one pair of jeans (I got one for work as well I guess but they don't see very heavy use) and I wear them every day, rain or shine or snow or sleet or hellfire. I ride my bike every single day of the week, rain or shine or whatever, and unfortunately, because I didn't do my research, I didn't realize that washing the grime out of your pants would extend the life of the denim.
For some reason though they didn't get too funky. I aired them out when they were wet with a fan and it seemed to work out great.
@JackCrank:
My 9301's probably won't see too much use during the warmer months. Then again, when it's shorts weather, it's shorts weather. They're pretty damn hot with the black/thickness combo. I wore them for a night or two in nicaragua 2 weeks ago (85deg weather) and wasn't too stoked.
Swamp crotch is a bummer.
