Random Rants

I understand you're probably frustrated dude, but no need to be snippy with our fellow forum buddies…

I guess I'm missing something. I did read that you have bought Patagonia jackets and sent them back with 20 burn holes in them and replaced them… I guess that's going above and beyond, but that certainly does not seem to be a practical business practice. What if everyone practiced this same type of behavior? I would imagine that would negate their return policy completely. Not to be argumentative, I do understand being upset that your new shirt has a hole in it but I just am failing to see how the responsibility falls anywhere but self. I don't imagine most company's test their clothing for what degree their cigarette/ ember burn resistance is including IH, FH, or anyone else. I feel its something to be expected. Accidents happen to even our most expensive pieces of clothing. A week after purchasing my IH great white a drop of ink got on it and now I have a Black spot on my white shirt for the remainder of its life.... You might say its apples to oranges but in fact it is exactly the same thing. Both of us were careful (I imagine you did not set out to let an ember fall on your shirt) but that being said we also both allowed ourselves around the elements that caused these things. I'm sorry ohighyo, I enjoy many of your posts but this isn't a problem that should have finger pointing going on in any direction than the person wearing the shirt and smoking. Furthermore, I'm not sure that kiyas comment was directed, in the particular, about a line BiG carries, but rather in general by naming another high quality line and taking it a step further to an item of even stronger build and stating that exposing these items to things that will damage them will, in fact, Damage them.
Furthermore, i participate in this forum because we all respectfully discuss issues and respect each other. Family members are welcome with open arms and opinions are Always welcome to be discussed with an open mind and objectivity... Despite your frustration, Lets keep it that way.

I don't know, man; you put Kiya and his place of business on blast pretty good. If you can't afford to be buying clothes that risk getting damaged given the fact you're apparently a pretty careless smoker, you might want to consider the manner in which you dispense of your funds.

Point out where I "blamed" someone for burning my shirt. I think you're missing the point. Pretty sure I'm just pissed that it burnt so easy and that I expect a little more out of a 370 dollar shirt. The Patagonia comparison is for anyone that has ever owned a Patagonia down jacket. Only they would understand what I'm talking about if they're a smoker. when a micro fragment of an ember hits it, it burns a hole. Kind of like what I'm sure happened to this shirt. you can tell the difference when you are a "careless" smoker and actually burn something with the lit end of a cigarette, or when you just Burn it with a freak ember because the fabric is so thin, like the nylon layer on a Patagonia jacket.

Ahh fuck it, I'm done ranting. Poor quality shirt for the price, end of story.
Done with this thread.
This was your quote from the roy thread:
"I want to point out, since there is some question to why this shirt is so expensive, that there are details in the shirt, sewing techniques, folds, and other crazy shit, that to someone who sews, blows their fucking mind. I only hope that in five years, which is roughly what roy has been sewing, that I am this good. And every sewing technique, machine used, measurement, stitch, is sewn by one man. Most factory sewers do one thing all day. If you run a felling machine that is what you do all day. Roy buys, learns, maybe restores, and masters every sewing machine it takes to produce garments, and then….... Produces unreal garments. Is this shirt as tough as iron heart, no, But its details are only what you get from a master sewer, not a factory. One dude and his machines, does it get much more badass, I don't think so."You said yourself its a great shirt prior. I'm not sure why you expect your shirt not to burn, same thing with the jacket you mentioned with "20 holes" That is not a design flaw, that is how things work respectfully. Embers burn things.... That's the way it is and in no way does that reflect the quality of a shirt jacket or otherwise. I don't understand how you can pin this on anyone else.

Correct, which still stands true, go back a little more where the first thing I mention is how thin this shirt is.
I'm not bitching that the stitching sucks or that it was sewn together shitty because that isn't the case. And that isn't me blaming anyone, it's actually a compliment.
Again, where am i blaming someone.

just a few posts back as i pointed out you said its a poor quality shirt after you stated why its justified at this price and how great it is. All I'm saying is that the responsibility of what happened to your shirt doesn't come down to poor quality anything it comes down to an ember landing on your shirt and instead of taking it for what it is you basically went on a tirade that was way out of line and apparently feel kiya owes you an apology for you burning your own shirt. None of it makes any sense. It is what it is, and I've said all I need to say.

Jesus, again dude, where did i ask kiya for an apology. Just a simple hey sorry that that happened would be sweet, not a, well you can do that with a real McCoy jacket too. And again, please point out where I blamed someone for burning my shirt. Yes i did say its a poor quality shirt as far as the durability of the fabric after I burnt it so damn easy, not because of the craftmenship.
Please stop trying to twist my words. -
All I have to say is hahahaha. The reason Roy's shit is so expensive, is the hype and marketing that SE puts behind him. There are other people doing this shit, way better (ie White Horse Trading Co), but they don't have hype men. One guy sewing a pair of jeans, with one single needle Singer, is worth way more than one guy using 10 machines, but that's not the case. Before bitching, please research and know the products.

ohighyo, sorry about your shirt. Hope you can find a way to repair it.

Amen…
ROY was cool when he just started sharing his passion - in other words: making jeans and sharing the goos with the people that appreciated the work and all the little details he put into making a pair. iirc the price for a pair of ROY's was like 150USD back then, purchased from his own website.
now ROY is still ROY and the jeans are still the same ROY jeans as back then, just double the price...shit got pretty crazy during the last few months and imo way outta hand.looks like people are buying ROY items no matter what they are or no matter how "high" the prices are...hype is what i like to call that!
not saying that i don't like his stuff or that the quality of his work isn't any good, just saying that the pricing on his items just got way outta control! spending 370USD on a shirt (talking about this particular shirt. too thin and imo it doesn't look that spectacular at all!) isn't really what i'm after when buying quality gear (and i'm not talking about the price since i can't afford it, more like i know how shit started and this is just way too crazy for me to justify such a purchase + the shitty return policy when being a buyer from overseas)...
