So I lay in bed last night thinking about this. Here are the sums:
We measure the knee 13" below the crotch. That leaves 23" to the hem on a 36" inseam
On the majority of our jeans we taper 1/2" from the knee to the cuff
That means the taper is 0.022739 of an inch per inch of inseam
Say we chop 4 inches off, then we lose 0.096857 of an inch in the width
On a hem that originally measured 9.5, it will now measure 9.41"Glad I'm not the only one who dreams of numbers and likes them. Really impressive reading this. What I take from that is the taper/fit for Urbs that wasn't working is most realistically likely because they're new?

I'm after the 666XhS first run. The measurements on the current run are not the same. The Beatle buster is the opposite of what I want, they have a smaller waist and at least a 9.3in+ leg opening and that's at a 36inseam. By the time you hem them for my short ass you have 9.5-9.7in leg opening, which is enormous. I just don't think IH makes a cut anymore that can fit me how I want. If they made cuts in shorter inseams, like in Japan, they would fit me fine because the cut would be true but not on these 36in+ inseams. Any sort of taper there is gets lost once you hem them to 32ish or shorter.
Tons of other brands fit like fucking gloves, I just don't get it.
Btw, I tried on the original 666xhs run when they came out and they fit like a glove, just didn't have the cash. Also, tried on Zwer's pair, fit like a glove.

On a hem that originally measured 9.5, it will now measure 9.41"I understand that all your jeans are tapered 0.5in from knee to hem. I think that is my problem(and maybe some other short guys as well). I'm not sure there's a solution that can be had from just adjusting the inseam, as you've pointed out. I think the only way there would be any sort of help for us short guys would be to increase the taper amount as you go up in waist sizing. 0.5in over your average 23in knee to hem length is basically nothing. I'm only speaking from experience with size 34-36 here. Maybe starting with say a 0.5in taper on a size 28 but ending with a 1.25in taper on size 38 would be something to think about. And/or increasing the taper amount from the thigh to knee as you go up in waist sizes.
My whole issue here is that once you go up from size 34 the leg opening just gets out of control. It falls under my shoes/boots if I don't have them hemmed as high waters. Add my 30in inseam in there and it looks like I'm wearing tree trunks around my ankles. Which means I have to get a super slim cut(301/555) which are usually cut too slim in the thigh for me. I know we're talking about tenths of inches here but let's be honest, that's what differentiates the cuts that we all love or hate.

I suspect my child minders husband may be a nazi, or at the least an absolute fucking moron. He keeps writing the most idiotic shit on Facebook about immigration, and boycotting muslim owned business's, serious douche bag.
Problem is that Tommy has been going there since he was a baby, and the childminder is great, in fact the husband (who is also a child minder) is great with Tommy and the other kids. His politics is seriously pissing me off though, and I would hate to think that he expresses any such views near any of the children.
This is not a political rant, this is a "my child minders husband is an asshole" rant.

Yeh, I think thats the route I'm going to be taking. When I say me i actually mean Pam as I have a habit of being a bit of a dick in these (any) situations.

Ok i have finally come to the conclusion I need a career change. I mean it was years in the making but I hate what I do and feel like i am wasting my talents working at Verizon. It feels good to get out there and begin searching for what I want. I need excitement and enjoyment in what I do for a living. Working for a big corporation is not all its cracked up to be. I thought having a Union job was a good thing but instead it only makes your employer hate u for what the Union has done for u. Now they just want to take it all away. Verizon makes my life along with every other employee a living hell. They are full of shit and in fact I'd rather eat a shit sandwich than to work there another year. I despise u for making me feel like I should be afraid to lose my job and that your company was the best i'd ever get. Big deal u pay well and give me benefits…I could care less because now I have ur company on my resume and i'll use u like u used me.
