White's Boots

Yep, double midsole. You should contact Kyle at Bakers to see what custom options they can offer you.
If I could make up my mind. Every time I look at this thread, I see something else I like.
Has anyone ever seen distressed roughout with natural cxl? The distressed ro looks a little redder than the cxl in pics.
-
Thanks guys, and no the heel is standard.
But double midsole, right?
I want to do the inverse of yours, with the roughout on the toe and black cxl on the uppers, like the SD's pictured on p. 145 of this thread.
Never thought about the toe-cap, though; do they make toe caps in roughout leather? Can't recall if I've ever seen one.

That's the desert sand roughout, isn't it? I really like that one, especially with the honey lug sole.

To whom it may concern (e.g. those waiting for boots!) I checked in with Kyle on the White's I ordered 7 weeks ago and was told another 2-3 weeks. 8 weeks was bad enough but what can ya do?
Damn, that sucks. I ordered my boots March 28th and UPS says they will be here this Thursday, which will be exactly 8 weeks from order to door.

OK, new boots!
Leather or nylon laces?? Hmmmmmm. Nylon definitely easier to use. Had a little trouble getting the leather to stay in the hooks.
Fit is perfect - but will have to get used to the pronounced arch. Even though these are single sole, unlined and soft toe, they are still heavier than I expected. Not a bad thing - I'm just surprised how substantial these boots are. Basically they ROCK. Very happy, worth the long wait.

Leather!!

Amazing boots there Bluegrass!

Bluegrass, are those 1/4 lowered heels? also what made you choose 8" instead of 6"? Congrats, they are nice.

Hi all, has anybody get and pics/ experience of SD's/ SJ's in suede/ roughout without celastic toes, so a soft toe? Rare I know and they may not work and will ask Whites about any downsides but fancy the idea for myself and stock. Cheers J.
Took me quite a bit longer to get the pics onto the computer, and they aren't suede/roughout, but here are a couple for you.
This is a Semi-Dress with a Swing last. These are my go to work boots, well, as much "work" as I do, anyway. They fit really well and are super comfortable, but if I were to do it over, I would get a celastic toe and a different last. The Swing is super roomy in the toe, which makes them look a bit clownish. I much prefer the look of my Viberg service boots. But, maybe the ugly girl will win my love with her great personality.

are those bullhide?
-
Yep, moon grey bullhide. I was a little ambivalent about it when I ordered, but I like it quite a bit now that I have the boots.
-
^ should be natty cxl, yes!
oh, and I vote for leather laces as well.Yep nat. cxl - they are like "butter" :). Spent all day in them - still getting used to pronounced arches - but I can tell they are sized perfect. Amazing how much they soften up and mold to your foot in just a day. I tightened the laces 2-3 times throughout the day, and they have settled quite a bit.
These are 6" (not 8") and yes it's 1/4" lowered heel - they still give me quite a lift (and I'm already 6'7"). I sweated over every detail, but I'm relieved it all worked out - no regrets. Gonna stick with the leather laces (thanks Finn) and based on Rocket's advise that they will get easier to "handle" - they are still pretty hard to get in the hooks.
Check out the well-worn nat. cxl belt from Hollows Leather - I expect the boots will darken up some like the belt. Overall a very satisfying purchase!
