White's Boots
-
I'd really recommend something like Alden or Tricker's instead. They're much better for that type of use.
-
They are much better, but if the dude has his heart set on Whites then a pair of black SD'd in dress leather, with a brown edge and a leather sole can look good in a formal occasion.
-
I agree, that could work, but he's talking about this build, which will not look good.
I like to get White's for my new office kicks. Do BH(with double mid-soles + #450 sole) go well with pants and shirts?

i saw a pic on baker's Facebook page of kyle's wedding - it was he and all his groomsmen in matching white's semi-dress boots with their tuxes!
I wear boots to work every day unless it's a trip to Indianapolis corp. HQ. We have a business casual attire policy which includes denim, and I take full advantage. But even if I have to wear dress pants I have some nice Billy Reid wing-tip ankle boots that work quite well.

Dood! So, the farmer rancher is basically a soft toe SJ on the #55 last, right? Those in British tan?

Waxed Red Dog Rough Out is pure sex!!! It looks like RD Smooth but with a hyper nice texture!!!
Pics will follow. -
I got you, homie

I wrestled with the same thing Lsash. Ended up doing the "I'll just get everything over time so I know for sure" approach… so I have White's, Trickers and Alden boots but only wear the trickers and aldens into the office, the whites are just too hardcore for the office.

Thanks for sharing your experiences. Many of us love custom made things.
I would like to share this with you guys.

Waxed (Obenaufs LP) Red Dog Rough Out

After months of lurking, here's my first pair of white's. It's not a custom boot - I had to get a stock pair on very short notice so I could have them shipped to my hotel during the week I spent in Vegas for the CES. That way I got around the enormous customs fees and shipping costs that would apply if I bought them directly from Germany.

@4c:
Any blisters?
Yes! My right little toe looked pretty bad after two days :-\ Stomping through the CES in new Whites was abit brutal after all. I then changed back into my Thorogood Lace-To-Toe Roofers for the rest of the show. With two layers of full grain rough-out, they're not exactly sissy shoes, but they felt like slippers in comparison
My right foot is wider than the left one, so some initial discomfort
wasn't unexpected… I sized 0.5 down from my usual 13D to a 12.5D. Length is perfect and with some more break-in these will be a great fit eventually. So I'm pretty happy with the outcome of my sizing lottery...
I'll make some fit pics next time I wear them.
