The Flat Head

Guys, i hope you can help me. Got this TFH 3002 second hand this weekend. It has about 30-40 wears and 2 washes. I hoped to shred and wash shit out if it but today i read somewhere the pioneer denim can shrink even more down the road. can anyone confirm this? Do i better stick to gentle soaks than regular machine washings? Fit is pretty spot in and on the tight (but not uncomfortable) side. Don‘t want to loose anything anywhere if possible. What do you think?

I'm not sure about extra shrinkage after multiple washes (assuming the washes were warm/hot). Personally I would do a cold or very lukewarm hand wash with plenty of soap and agitation to get any funk or stains out. I doubt you'll see much if any change in measurements from this but you could check pre and post wash to see if the denim reacted at all and maybe try a warmer wash dependent on if there was anymore shrink at a colder temp.

Ilo - I have a pair of pre owned 3002 as well and so far I've given them a hot soak and a machine wash on delicate, I believe between me and the previous owner we've gotten all the shrink out of them. It also sounds like you may have have gotten all the shrink out already if they were two hot washes.
For me, they initially feel tighter after the soak/wash but stretch right back out to pre wash size after a few wears. I hope this helps.

Thanks guys @BloodnThunder & @dcinitial
That's what i hoped to hear. As it was freshly washed when i got the pants i also hope for a little stretch, got already a bit of it yesterday. Trying to be careful when washing this. I hate this overthinking about how to wash your denim but ending up with a to small pair would bum me out too.

Quite interesting read over at Heddels about The Flat Head. It's very interesting that Kobayashi-san has so many different TFH labels by now.

@Appfaff if I can ask, what size did you go for in TFH t-shirts? I bought a standard 44 today and it fits well though across the chest and underarms are more fitted than I'm used to. The 46 was massive though. DC4 have a special R series that is wider in the top block and I might order one to see how it compares.

Hey man, the blue one above is a standard 44 - I wear an XL-XXL in IH Ts (1610/1720).

Thanks mate. Fits about the same as mine. I prefer a heavier shirt than any of the Merz B I've tried how does TFH sizing compare to IH? I'm eyeing up a few IH but not sure whether to go xl or xxl depending on colour etc

Having now bought 2 TFH classic tees size 44, one with print, one without, I can confidently say they are the perfect tee for my requirements. Pics to follow hopefully.

anyone know if the difference between a regular sized tee or Wide version of the tee is very noticeable? I suspect only the pit to pit dimensions to be affected?

Glad you like them! I think the XL in the IHT-1610 fits more similar to the sz 44 TFH heads tees, although the IH are a bit shorter and snigger around the midsection. Most of mine are XXL and are rather loose around the waist.

Yes, is quite noticeable. I bought a wide version once by mistake and it was almost like wearing the next size up.

@SLAB I agree with Chris. There are 3 TFH tee fits that I'm aware of, the 'R' size made exclusively for DC4 in Europe. They are supposed to be slightly broader in the shoulders and chest, the standard 44/XL type fit which is what I wear. I find chest, waist, and length to be perfect. Finally there is the slim fit which has a slight rapper to the waist. I have tried these in size 44/XL and the rapper really noticed and was not good for me. You would have to be of a younger or slimmer build for this cut to suit in my opinion.
Standard fit is great, it doesn't have side seems like some larger loopwheel tees, it doesn't flair out at the waist/opening, which some other brands do. They are worth the extra money I think. I hope that helps?
