Guitars anyone???

@chiverus very nice, how long did hiding all the cables take? I always lose patience so quickly and it ends up in a mess.
Strymon have just released new versions of their main pedal range and I want one badly!
@AdamJ those Strymon ranges are meant to be amazing.. it is embarrassing to admit I had someone build it for me (for the reasons you mention) but the CXM 1978 is great fun!

@chiverus another one I've always wanted is a JHS Colour Box which I have only ever tested, passed up on a V1 a few years ago and ever since bands/musicians have been touring with them, they have sky rocketed in price
Great idea getting someone else to do it!
-
@AdamJ JHS stuff is usually excellent. Did you ever get that new amp? If so, tell us tube or SS?
And having read this thread again I agree 100% on the quality of Japanese Fender. My first guitar was a Jap Black Strat and was utterly amazing. I can't believe I sold it for next to nothing decades ago. Doh!
-
A fender custom that they had in stock. It’s based off a 69 strat. The paint that they used in 69 was unstable and quickly went from red to pink. It was the height of the paisley, flower child, era and I thought the history was super cool. I could never afford a true 69, so this is as close as I can get.

@chiverus No, my two local stores have had major issues with Fender stock, specifically amps and American made guitars, so I have not got round to trying one out. My old acoustic has been seeing a lot more action.
Yep I agree, there is a store on Reverb based in the UK who specialise in re-selling Japanese Fenders. I am getting one next year, no excuses!
-
@AdamJ are you down near Gosport? If you ever pop up "North" I would recommend Coda Music in Old Stevenage. They usually have good stock of American fender Amps/guitars and are super friendly about demoing whatever you like Peach Guitars are also great, but you need to pre-book an appointment.
Love the certainty of next year's Japanese Fender purchase
-
@chiverus Yes, I live about 1 minute from IHUK HQ my extended family are from Hitchin/Pirton way so as it happens I have been to Coda in Stevenage, a while back though!
We've got PMT in Portsmouth which is a big music shop/warehouse, pretty decent but demo-ing stuff can be a pain.
-
@AdamJ Small World! We live in Kimpton, a village 15 minutes drive away from Hitchin! Good luck with the hunt

Fender have released a tone master version of the Princeton Reverb which whilst may not be a true valve amp would work wonders in my flat, built in attenuator!
I tried out the silver face version but couldn't stretch to a grand they'd bumped the price up to ::)

I'm with you about the price. A friend of mine has the tonemaster Deluxe Reverb which I've played through a number of times. It sounds amazing to my newbie ears.

new to the forum.. but had to jump in on the guitar thread! I'm a full-time worship pastor and have the privelege of playing my guitar a lot. Here's been my favorite as of late - my good friend Josh Scott (of JHS pedals) hooked me up with one of my grail guitars!
-
@chelliah Welcome! It's a great place for discussions. Killer tele! I dig Josh's youtube channel. I've wasted too much time watching him and his quirky team.
-
Along with an 80's MIJ Blonde TelecasterThe Johnny Marr Jaguar is my favorite guitar I've ever played. I have absolutely no need for it, but keep finding myself trying to justify buying the "Fever Dream" color that recently released.
-
So I had a spare set of pickups that I really love the sound of lying around for the last few years and I couldn’t bring myself to sell and that was obviously a ticking time bomb. Simultaneously I had fallen hard for my Vela that I bought a bit over a year ago and kept eyeing the satin black version with a lustful eye. So finally the inevitable happened.
I’m glad it did, even though I couldn’t rationally justify it at the time. This may be the best guitar I’ve ever owned. Even more so than my other Vela which is a wonderful guitar. Not to mention my other Tele and my PRS CE-22. All great guitars. But this one is just… absolutely magical. It’s so alive acoustically and plugged in that it feels like it wants to jump out of my hands and go on a rampage. Plus with my cosmetic upgrades (and the pickup swap) it’s just damn sexy. And slim ‘n trim at 6.2 lbs. I’m not really a PRS guy these days, but the Vela is a killer.
-
Also recently, after having an extra PRS CE-22 neck without a matching body with virtually no hope of ever finding one, I stumbled across one on Reverb. A buddy of mine who I record with chipped in on it and after much consideration we decided to remove all the finish and do a fresh stain on the top and then gave it several super thin coats of tru-oil(?). Here’s the result:

1976 Les Paul Custom and 1985 Flying V:
2007 Les Paul GOTW46:
Others guitars but no photos
I'm a stoner rock player, for my amps i use Orange dual terror and mesa boogie.
For the effects, few things but I'm a nerd with the pedal effect so when KHDK sell something, you can count on me, I'm a big fan. :o -
My main guitars, Gibson LP standard 1998 and Fender Tele american standard 2014.
-
@xtcclassic that Vela in satin looks the bees knees. Love it!
@gouki74 beautiful LP custom and it's 27 years old.Wow!
@Zee Boo absolutely killer Tele (Teles rule).

Welcome! That looks stonking. What are Nash guitars like, I have heard good things..?
