FUN IN PHILADEPHIA - MEETUPS ON 30TH APRIL/1ST MAY
-
Bonnie and I are definitely in for Sat. night. Looks great. Love Bavarian pretzels. Saw a potential after dinner activity, which is the Chinese Lantern Festival in Franklin Sq. The problems are you have to have tickets($17)and you have to buy them for a committed time period. Not sure if it sells out and if you can be spontaneous and just go. It closes at 11,so depending on what time we got out of dinner etc.–Jett
@Jett129 I would love to see this - I thought we'd start quite early on Saturday evening at Frankford Hall (6pm?), especially as there may be a few people who just want to come for a quick drink and get away, so let's see who else is interested. Maybe we could go for the 10pm-11pm session? I'd be happy to book tickets in advance.

I hope I'm home for this. There is no such thing as requesting off February through June in my company. It's the busy season. Hopefully I won't have to work.

Would be great if we could make that happen. Night time is obviously the time to go,which is why it's free during the day. The only other variable would be the weather, probably not much fun if it's raining. Also don't know how far in advance we would need to get tickets. By the Monday before we should be able to get a handle on the weather and how many people would be interested. We'd need to take a taxi from the restaurant to Franklin Sq. but could probably walk back to the hotel.–Jett

I am definitely shooting to meet up for May 1st at Plumsteadville! It is 30 minutes closer to home for me, don't have to go INTO Philly, can't ask for more! I am happy

@Filthy25ozJunkie - we hope you can make it, too - keep me posted

@Madame Buttonfly as I mentioned to Giles the other day. I'm probably most likely not going to be able to make it. But they tell me I'm going places all the time then they fall through. So who knows?
-
@Filthy25ozJunkie - we'll keep our fingers and toes crossed - on Saturday night it's easy, just turn up if you can. If you want to join brunch on Sunday would be great to know at least a day or two beforehand so that I can give firm numbers to the Plumsteadville Inn
-
Sure thing. I will keep you posted. I'd probably do the thing at night and then drive back home. Thank you.
-
@Madame Buttonfly I will be there. Hope it is nice so I can ride down!
-
@Madame Buttonfly put me down for the Sunday please, see you soon

I'm so excited this trip is now so close! I'll do a final round-up/roll-call next week

I reconnoitered Frankford Hall on Saturday at around 6 PM, and it was crazy busy. There was a line out the door of people waiting to get in. I'd say if it's easy enough to reserve a table it'll be fine - maybe a little loud, not so easy to get a shuffleboard court or whatever - but without a reservation it might not be a great venue.

Just curious, what time were you trying to get in?
-
If you mean me, right at 6 PM. I was on my way somewhere and didn't bother trying to get in. It's possible that there was an event there or a large party taking up much of the venue. FWIW, it appeared to be much less busy when I walked past on Sunday around the same time. Still busy, but not packed, and no line waiting to get in.
