Those fades look amazing!! I’ve been looking to get a 526-LOD, but seeing these pics is making me second guess my choice. Wow.
Over a year ago when both were out of stock, I was really wanting the OD one and the exact same thing happened to me with this thread in the time it took them to restock. Month by month, pic by pic, they won me over. So far very happy with the decision to go with the indigo once I figured out sizing.
Sizing is the one question I have left. Found the 526L in an XL which says 42, but when you look at the measurements it shows as a 46 inch chest. I’d really like to give it a try, but is the XL in the 526L really a 46 inch chest? My chest is just under 43.5 inches with a shirt and thin flannel on; I’d be swimming in a 46 inch chest. Any XL owners care to chime in on the sizing of this model?

The most recent batch turned out a bit larger, but if you can, ask for actual measurements. You're probably closer to a size large in this run but trust the measurements. Lately I've come to realize and appreciate the value in the waist and opening measurements too, so don't neglect those either as they can be pretty helpful on knowing how to size for layering or not. Good luck and I hope you find one that fits just how you want!

Well as luck would have it, I went to order the jacket and they’re sold out in the XL. Guess I have to be more decisive next time. Bummer.

If our sizing chart says it is, then yes.
A tag size 42 is NOT meant to measure 42, it is meant to fit someone with a 42" chest.
As @pechelman says, trust the measurements. But do yourself 2 favours:
- Measure something similar and then compare it with the measurements on the Iron Heart site
- Reach out to shop@ironheart and ask for some advice (but the first thing they will ask you to do is to take some measurements)
-
Yes, I did that but have been told a few different things. The measurements of the jacket I normally wear are:
Chest: 44 inches
Sleeve Length: 27 inches
Jacket Length: 26 inches
Shoulder Length: 19 inches
Bottom: 21 inches -

Chest: 44 inches
Sleeve Length: 27 inches
Jacket Length: 26 inches
Shoulder Length: 19 inches
Bottom: 21 inchesAssuming you measured the way we do, then you have two pretty critical measurements to start with. The shoulder and the chest.
The shoulder on the jacket that fits you well is 19". The IH-526L is unsanforized but one-washed so some shrinkage to be expected, we did a shrink test on a 4XL (a link to the shrink test results is on the product page). A 4XL will shrink more than a Large as there is more material. The shrink test's shoulders shrank 0.5" so I would extrapolate from that that you could expect around 0.25" shoulder shrinkage, so your ideal shoulder measurement is about 19.2-19.4" (the chart measurment for a large is 19.4")
The chest on the jacket that fits you well is 22". Our shrink test showed no shrinkage on the P2P measurement which is unusal, and you may want to allow some room for yours to shrink, so you are looking for a P2P of around 22" - 22.5" (the chart measurment for a large is 22.5")
Now you have essentially narrowed down your choice to a Large, you can compare one by one remaining measurements to see if you will be happy with the overall fit, for eg the sleeve length on your jacket is 27", 526L size large is 27.4" and likley to shrink a little, so you will end up at about the same place. Check. Move onto the next, etc.

This is exactly what I needed; thank you so much!! The only bummer is the size L in this model is sold out everywhere with no ETA for restock. The only model I’m seeing available close to my size is the 526PJ but I think that one might be shorter and doesn’t have quite the same eye popping fades.

@Jcaz6996 Incredible man, one of the best jackets I've ever seen.
