Sizing questions.
I'm doing some research measuring my type 3 jackets trying to find my ideal measurements to finally purchase this beautiful jacket in the right size.
The jackets I've measured are by Tellason, Nudie, 3Sixteen (Type 3s Shadow S), Indigofera, Lee 101 Rider & Levi's in various colors/materials. Among these I have a few favorites and a few sizing mistakes (the biggest mistake being the 3Sixteen that I bought years ago in Large, but fits like a small/medium. I feel trapped without the option to move my arms, so I've only worn it for a total of 3 weeks during the last 6 years).
The results show that my best fitting jackets are by Tellason and Levi's.
Chest
Ideal measurement: between 55-57cm/22-23 inches Pit to pit.A IH 526L in XL measures 57.2cm PTP. Room for minimal shrinkage. Perfect!
The best fits for me are relaxed without being too baggy or long in the arms, they work with just a T-shirt but also room enough for a hoodie.
I'm usually an XL in Iron Heart shirts so I thought XL would be my size for the jacket as well. But Large could work, unless it would shrink just a cm.
Length
Ideal measurement: 63cm / 24-25 inchesA IH 526L in XL measures 68.6cm/27inches in length. Longer than I think would look good on me. But who knows, perhaps it could shrink in length?
Sleeves
Measurement 64cm / 24-25 inchesA IH 526L in XL measures 68.6cm/27inches in sleeves. Longer sleeves than I'd like. But no problem, I could keep them cuffed as many do with MC type 3 jackets.
Shoulders
Ideal measurement 46cm / 18 inchesA IH 526L in XL measures 49.5cm/19.5 inches in length. Wider than I'd like. Shrinkage?
That said,
How much should I expect shrink wise?
Everything tells me I'm an XL, but I might be a Large, if it doesn't shrink at all.
Sorry for this lengthy post, just trying to do my homework before making a mistake.

If you blast hot water in a tub or bucket as hot as the tap will go and give it a soak straight from the bag, you will get shrinkage. I usually wear XXL in most IH tops and my Lefty is a XXXL but fits like an XXL after I hot soaked the crap outta mine for over an hour.
edit: also you might want a little extra room with this jacket anyway, the fabric is akin to tree bark as it is super stiff and thicc.

Interesting, thank you. Did the fabric lose noticable/significant amount of indigo after that first hot water soak?

From my experiences no.
It’s not a fast fader and you have to work hard for . But they definitely fade amazing -
Did the fabric lose noticable/significant amount of indigo after that first hot water soak?
As a general rule any decent indigo rope-dyed fabric will not lose any significant colour with an initial wash. Indigo is oxidised onto the surface of the cotton and is only removed by abrasion (wear). Any indigo you do lose will be loose unoxidised indigo and would rub off very quickly with wear anyway.
And as @Kasi suggests, drop the crew an email at shop@ironheart.co.uk, you won't find better-qualified people to answer questions like this, it's their job.

Perfect. Thank you, I'll do just that.

Whoops, there was a significant typo in this para. Corrected here.
