Naked & Famous
-
I was trying to get a buddy into raw denim. He would go once a year to saks or somewhere and pay 200 bucks for 'name' brand denim of spotty quality and I would annually give him a hard time about it.
His father used to be in the garment industry and worked at Cone Mills for a time so I was trying to get him to buy the Roy (4th series) jeans. He ended up getting a pair of Naked and Famous and really likes em - I couldn't fault his choice one bit.

i think i just threw up in my mouth then had a flash back to grade 6 and wearing shirts that changed color with heat

I do like the eat dust stuff. Their bloodline vest is the sickness.

Global Hypercolour tee shirts were back in the day.

…the only place that really matters.

I like that he's willing to take chances and try new things. I'm not interested in most of what N&F puts out, but I respect the creativity. I think the danger of toning it down is that the brand loses its distinctiveness and gets lost among all the other jeans makers in the same price range.
-
I'm not sure I'd say N&F is only selling gimmick jeans. They have several popular models that are normal denim. The really off-beat stuff is limited production, special edition runs. I'd compare N&F more to Samurai or Studio D'Artisan in their approach, if not overall quality or reputation. There's nothing wrong with thinking outside the box and taking some risks.

Happen to be wearing my gimmick N&F Red core today. Really washed them for the first time last week. The red
Core was just quirky enough, but really quite subtle. Worn them since July about4-5 days/wk. Plan on wearing them into the ground while anxiously waiting for my MBB to be made. Sorry in advance for the crappy iPhone photos.

I kinda like the red core. I'll be interested to see how the new rainbow core fades over the next couple of years.

Agreed Chris. I'm interested as well, the rainbow core is kind of tough to visualize. The red was a little easier to wrap my brain around.
