Did a short review on my findings about the 70s buddy, it's half way down this page http://www.ironheart.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=1377.msg331738#msg331738

i know you dont like the heel tab on these trying to hunt one of the first strings too. Nevertheless they are pretty well made and supercomfy.
Very nice pair and good match mate!
Even though i prefer the heel tab of the 1st strings i did pick up the parchment lows with the new tab, in the end it didn't bother me enough to hunt down the 1st strings, would've been a mission impossible i fear.
They are indeed very comfy for a pair of Chucks, just like the black hi-top 1st strings i bought last year. -
2 new pairs of All Star Pro Skate's
Black and navy
The lunarlon insole makes a big dif in comfort compared to reg chucks. Love these!!
Although both pair were listed as the same model, the navy ones are alot nicer. They have a memory foam like padding in the collar and the tongue. Similar to a pair of "cons revere" i own. Very comfy. Also dont have the color pinstripe around the toe that the blacks do
You can see the collar thickness and kinda see the tongue differences in thickness and tag
These navy ones are the only ones i have found with these changes (too bad cuz they are awesome)
BLACK box says:
CHUCK TAYLOR ALLSTAR PRO BK/WH
And: CT PRO SKATE OX BLACK/WHITENAVY ones say:
CHUCK TAYLOR ASPS- ATH NVY/W
And: CTS OX ATHLETIC NAVThose are the only differences in names. The boxes were dif too

Very nice @pillowPANTS Definitely something to consider if you're going to be on your feet all day.

They are much better then the reg chucks for comfort for sure. I was just suprised that the navy ones are the only ones ive found that have the extra padding. Even tho they are all listed as the same shoe.
I like those whites too, may have to grab those next

read this thread a few pages back and have been confused on the 1970's chuck in sunflower. am i right to say that they're both 1970's sunflower hi top and that the only difference is in the heel tab? that defines whether it is released by converse or converse first sting?
the vintage tab being first string and the modern tab being normal converse line?
-
for some odd reason, the 1st string line has gone back & forth on the use of the modern heel tab & the classic heel tab.
so i think you would be
correct in saying the only difference between those first string releases is the heel tab. i have no idea why, but converse tends to go back & forth with the use of the classic heel tab & it just makes it confusing for the customer. from what i can tell the solid color 1st string releases started out with the classic heel tab but now use the modern heel tab. the more exotic or limited 1st string releases have gone back & forth with the heel tabs they use.incorrecthope it makes sense. reading it is giving me a headache
