They are much better then the reg chucks for comfort for sure. I was just suprised that the navy ones are the only ones ive found that have the extra padding. Even tho they are all listed as the same shoe.
I like those whites too, may have to grab those next

read this thread a few pages back and have been confused on the 1970's chuck in sunflower. am i right to say that they're both 1970's sunflower hi top and that the only difference is in the heel tab? that defines whether it is released by converse or converse first sting?
the vintage tab being first string and the modern tab being normal converse line?
-
for some odd reason, the 1st string line has gone back & forth on the use of the modern heel tab & the classic heel tab.
so i think you would be
correct in saying the only difference between those first string releases is the heel tab. i have no idea why, but converse tends to go back & forth with the use of the classic heel tab & it just makes it confusing for the customer. from what i can tell the solid color 1st string releases started out with the classic heel tab but now use the modern heel tab. the more exotic or limited 1st string releases have gone back & forth with the heel tabs they use.incorrecthope it makes sense. reading it is giving me a headache

the internet gives me headache as well. what i understood and searched for results was based off mich's reviews on page 20. and so coincidentally that i've been looking for a 1970's yellow chuck hi. which is why i want to be sure about whether i'm buying the first string line or the normal converse line.
and by looking online, it's between first string pairs and normal line pairs. and the fact that either photos dont stand for the actual product or that the do not have sufficient shots to observe what heel tab the model is using.
so what you're saying is that the 1970 falls under the first string releases and that converse is going back and forth on the use of vintage and modern tabs? and that the 1970 model was never under normal converse lines?
hope i'm not making it even more confusing.

Regarding the 1970s All-Stars, i believe it's called a first string release when a colour is first released in the 1970 All-Star model, those get the classic style heel tab and nylon(?) woven heel piece.
When they re-release the same color again in a 1970 model it's no longer called a first string but just a 1970 All-Star, those have a new style (read less attractive) black heel tab and canvas heel piece.
That's the only difference, so both the first string 1970s and the 'regular' 1970s have the luxury features like the thicker sole with better cushoning and thicker canvas.
So best thing is to look for '1970' in the description, and look at the heel tab, that's the best method of identification. To complicate things even more, much of the same colors are also available as regular All-Stars, recognizable by the white tab most Chucks have.

Do the 70's chucks fit like reg chucks or more like the ctas pro skate version? Reg chucks im an 11 and the ctas pro i am 11.5
