Ship John

Man, guys these Willis jackets are looking killer
-
I know I just posted the wills yesterday…. But I couldn’t help but jump on that green wool Hopkins. Anyone else grab one today? They’re still up for pre order
I couldn’t resist this one. I was lucky enough to be able to try on one of the old grey Hopkins in my size, and I was able to size down to a Large Tall (I normally need an XL in Ship John, but I’m kind of between sizes). I have wanted a new wool jacket for years and the olive is MY color.

I was able to grab one of the Ship John x Langlitz Wills jackets as well. Amazing build quality. Love the jacket but will be putting it up for sale on the forum in the coming days. The fit just isn’t what I had hoped. I’ll probably have to take quite a hit on it too but hopefully someone will get some use out of it. They are great jackets.

Sadly no it isn’t. Each jacket was customized with your name on the inside of the inside pocket so return isn’t possible. That’s another reason it may be a tough sell. At least it’s on the inside of the inside pocket. I thought if it doesn’t sell it may fit my dad and would make a great Christmas gift.

That sucks. I imagine it may sell better than you think, especially if it isn’t an extreme size.

Thanks. Hopefully it will. That’s the gamble I took and had to be prepared for it. XL long is about as extreme as you can get ha! It’s just a little too big for me but I’ll keep my fingers crossed.
-
Thanks @Graeme that’s a great idea. I hadn’t thought of that. I have a tailor that I think is pretty “darn” good that could at least take a look at it. I’m in Canada so sending to Langlitz for adjustment wouldn’t really work. Thanks again.

How far off is the sizing? There are leather tailors who could possibly take a couple of inches out of the chest and get the fit right. It might be worth giving Langlitz a call to see what they can do.
great idea. Langlitz does a lot of that sort of work since their jackets fit like a second skin and people get old and fat.
I tried to have mine altered and they said ,yeah, sorry, not gonna work mate. -

Do you have a regular Wills? I have one of these coming in same size as canvas Wills, sure hoping it fits!

I had the denim Wills but had the same issue. It was too big. I thought this leather one would fit a bit better because it was a thicker material and had the lining as well. I have tried on a Large Wills that a friend of mine has and it was just a tiny bit small. I’m just sort of in that range between the two I guess.

Lol did anyone else try to get a Willis? I kept trying to enter my payment info and it'd say the item was no longer available, so I had to bump to the next order bracket a month later.
Pretty soon it was almost 2023 receipt date and I gave up. I don't want anything that bad. Seems like they tried to fix the problem and just made things way worse, maybe? I'm not sure.
Anyway!

Well, ShipJohn had a pretty good day. Do the math. Lots of someones bought jackets a year or two or more in advance.
-
Haha yeah, they really must've made a pile. I suppose it's pretty good to look at your schedule and know you're booked solid for a couple years!
-
I’d like a Willis- forgot about it until 6 whole minutes after the books opened, and they were already at February 2023. Good for them.
I’ve been burned by their POS before, where an item is still in stock until paid for, and it’s not taken out of inventory when you add it to your cart (which seems more equitable to me, but maybe not possible with whatever they use). Might try for one of the monthly offerings, or get Sidnaw Company’s more available take on a heavy waxed canvas jacket. -
I’m really happy I got mine when I did. I contemplated trying to get one with the lining, although I’d be more likely to do it if it was a actual blank lining….
They are currently at sept 2023 damn… as said above they had a good day.
I really would like to go for a colored one like olive but I think that will become even harder to get now. As most people won’t wait 2 years and just try for colored ones
