Love em keep em coming. It bolsters my ego lol. Some of my dude friends hate on my IH gear making me feel costumy sometimes. Lol. Haters gonna hate!
Really? What in particular do they hate on? I get nothing but compliments on mine.
Not that I ever fish for such things but no one ever compliments me on my IH stuff. Don't really care though.

I'm sure it's just because they're intimidated by how good you look

It's not a matter of fishing for compliments or the fact that I care either, but it proves the quality and style of the garments when friends/strangers who know nothing about clothing can see it in a piece of IH gear and compliment it. It's proof that the items speak for themselves and it's undeniable.

"Urban Cowboy"… is familiar. Yeah it is funny. I think it is more of men still rocking their late adolescent wardrobes (including underwear...) and seeing anything other than a t-shirt and sneakers feeling like "what the hell man?" I certainly was there. I've had too many to count "IH, et al. IS NOT DESIGNER!" conversations. Haha.
edit: The 159 shirt however has drawn compliments from many including my hater friends. People love that thing and it's probably my favorite IH shirt. haha.

I know these types well. I tend to view my IH stuff (as well as other denim brands) as my age appropriate grown up clothes.

I def got shit when I first transitioned from classic button ups to IH westerns, even Taylor Stitch's shirts raised the cackles of my friends. I remember my defensive answer was, 'it's workwear!' haha. Deep rooted in our psyche to not stand out in a crowd and any perceptible change from group norms is initially scowled upon and poked fun at. Ive noticed the slow trend that many of my friends have started 'dressing nicer' in the past few years–not necessarily that they're following me, could just be growing up in general, idk

Defo. Brands like IH really help transition from youth rebellion to adult rebellion. I get compliments from time to time, but generally when I'm in London from people that know their shit. My 19oz lefty type III gets lots of compliments from the ladies in the office though for some reason.
I get the old 'double denim eh?' Comment. Given that most twats where I live live and die in Superdry shit, I can hold my head pretty high.

No doubt. In my case though, the people I know wouldn't know sh*t from shynola which would explain the lack of compliments. I might as well be wearing a flannel shirt and jeans from Macy's

Love this thing. Looking forward to seeing how it evolves, but its already my favorite jacket I've ever owned.

For those of you who sized down from your normal IH size, do you feel constricted at all in the jacket? I normally wear Xl in most of my IH shirts and occasionally can fit in to L in some work shirts. The measurements on the L look pretty close to the measures I’d target in a button down (except those long sleeves)… anyway, if you guys who have owned this for a while could advise I’d appreciate it!

Yes, a little. But, if I wear a thin top like a tee or henley i'm fine. This jacket is pretty thick & heavy to begin with so layering isn't necessary for me as I have no plans wearing it below 40 degrees. I can't squeeze into it wearing a flannel. And if that doesn't sound encouraging refer to the fit chart above all else. Some people went with their usual size and others sized down

I'm not sure if this helps but…I'm usually frustratingly right in between medium and large on almost everything IH makes. I'm 5'10 170lbs but my ideal chest measurement for something I actually want to button is about 44". So if it fits across the chest, the sleeves are usually too long for my t-rex arms
With that out of the way, I went with a medium in this and do not regret it at all. My plan was to wear this over just a t-shirt and it works well for that. There's a little tightness right in the deltoid area of my shoulder, but it's not bad.
I sized this jacket like I did my type IIIs, though I do like a slimmer fit with the type IIIs. I sized down one from the UHFs.
Hope that helps! If you can score this jacket, don't hesitate. I know everyone says that but this is easily in my top 3 IH pieces ever.

Just got the measures for the 2 L's in stock from the IH crew… another question for you guys regarding fit...
Approximately where is the narrowest waist measurement in the jacket? and from your guys' experience with the jacket, is it possible to give the jacket a little more give if you only use the snap buttons vs zipping up? Reason I ask is that the waist measurements on both L's (about 21.4) are on the cusp of being too small for me in the midsection while the rest of the measures look like they'd fit. Usually I'm more comfortable with a waist measurement around 22.5" in my shirts/jackets.
Also does the jacket stretch at all with wear given that it's made from denim?
Maybe I just need to lose some LB's!

I was basically in the same situation as you with this jacket so I did what any logical, sane, financially responsible person would do and I bought two of them…one in L and one in XL. Yes I am keeping both and yes both of them fit.
I'm an XL in almost all IH shirts across the board, XXL in IH truckers and have an XL in the IHJ-61 Whipcord work jacket. The IHJ-61 fits me great in XL but does get constricting when I lift my arms to reach above my head...think reaching to get something out of the top cupboard. Also a bit constricting when zipped up and I'm fully outstretching my arms....think bending over to pick something up. None of this bothers me enough to not wear it though as I love the damn thing. Works perfect just over a T and I can even wear it over an IH thermal. This is exactly how the sized down L M-65 fits me but possibly even a bit tighter in the arms. Definitely only a T under the L but it still works. I use the expression fits like a glove...perfect way to describe it. For some having a jacket that fits like a glove is a bad thing and too small but this still works for me. It's almost too good of a fit if that makes sense...tailored. That being said it has stretched out a bit with wear which is a good thing.
So since I love the damn thing so much I also bought an XL and in all honesty it probably fits me the way it should especially considering the M-65 is supposed to have a roomier fit. More room but still fits great and not constricting at all with any movement. If I had to do it all over again....I'd probably go with the XL but again...both sizes work for me.
