What a beast! Did you see the new BBC blue planet? There’s an episode where giant trevalley are jumping out of the water and eating birds that are in midflight. Bonkers.

No pics today because Giles told me earlier he lost three fish
But had yellowfin tuna sashimi and chicken curry for his dinner, so seems happy enough!

How far out to sea do you go to fish? I don't quite have the stomach for deep sea fishing since i'm prone to motion sickness. Curious if you take dramamine or if you are used to it.

The islands we fish from are 35miles from the dock. But this is not what we would term deep sea fishing, GT's inhabit relatively shallow water (the max we fish in is 70 feet) and we typically cast surface lures which get hit on the surface in the most dramatic way. A hit from a large (30kg+) GT can be like someone dropping a piano into the water from a helicopter, and hits come from literally nowhere. The reason that you see no land in the background of my pictures is because, good holding structure can be a 100 yard by 100yd spot in the middle of nowhere ,and frankly we don't want others working out where we catch the fish. These fish are a valuable resource and can take 50 years to reach 40 or 50kg, we don't want them being caught and killed.
We are 100% catch and release for GT. If we catch a grouper, snapper, mahi mahi or the like, then that may get taken home for supper.
