Tattoos

Thanks guys. I'm sure about the motives (I got two in consideration and maybe will get both after a while), but it freaks me out a bit, not to be sure if it looks the way I want it to. So I hope I pick the right artist… will let you know when it happened.

septicsef is in germany and knows quite a few tattoo artists over there. maybe he could point you in the right direction? when i get tattooed its either one of two ways….
1. i go in knowing exactly what i want and its been planned out and we work on finishing the plan.
2. i didnt even plan to get tattooed and i get the first thing someone sitting within 5 feet of me thinks of. i ended up with some really ridiculous tattoos like that. -
^nr. 2 sounds, well, special I think Nr. 1 will do for me. And thanks for the hint, I'll contact him.

Thinking about getting my first tattoo as well… as a kind off gift for finishing my study!
I really don't know where to put it though since i've got a few spots on my mind (chest, shoulder, upper arm, lat or leg)...
i'd love to do some maori kinda thing if it comes to putting the tattoo on my upper arm or leg (thigh and/or calf)!
the chestpiece would look like two birds/angel wings holding a banner with a meaningful sentence in it!
and if i'm going to put it on the lat, then it would be something like the praying hands!
so what would you guys suggest as a first tattoo (i know i'll get more later on )
thx in advance!

I wouldn't get the praying hands, if you want to hear my opinion… But the other stuff sounds good, at least if the sentence is really meaningful

Finn…. find a good artist & talk to them. Figure out what means the most to you and work out the details. If the artist isn't willing to take the time with you, then find another one who is.
Do not rush into anything. I know it's hard not to but it's something worth taking your time with. Trust me, I found that out the hard way.
I know sometimes it's hard to edit down the ideas. Trust me, though... once you get your first you'll want your second almost immediately.
Enjoy the process and good luck!

Good hints, I'll keep them in mind, too. Thank you very much!

thx a lot mate, i def. will keep this in mind and i def. will let you guys know as soon as all is said and done, how my tattoo looks like (will take a few more months though!)…
thanks -
he speaks the truth. once you start its hard to stop. don't go straight for your chest. chances are you'll start getting tattooed more and find an artist that you want to do something big on you. thats what happened with me and thomas hooper.
joke/road trip tattoos are always a good idea in my opinion though hahaha.

think about it from a real estate perspective, you've only got so much space on your skin.
my first tattoo was a half sleeve with a half chest piece. i don't regret it but it definitely takes up a lot of real estate, especially since i don't plan on getting anything below my waist.

Just hit SF for a quick trip to drop off some pants at SE for hemming, buy some art books in Japantown and Chinatown, and get this finished.
It goes down much further, but you'll just have to use your imagination…
Amazing. Brother Amazing!
