IHM-27-BLK - Sateen M-65 Field Jacket - Black

Hi all, FYI I cancelled out an order this morning so a small should be freeing back up soon.

Don’t smoke kids!

Nope.
H once told me he was going to offer an optional liner. I said, 'and what the fuck are you going to to do with all the liners that no one decided they wanted, but we have made, at the end of the season?'
He gave me a sage look and said "no optional liners"…...
@Giles lol. This hadn't aged well.

Hi, I have an olive, but want a black size L. When do you expect stock again?
-
Then on the wish list!

What about natural indigo? @Rick62

@Graham I saw it and honestly don't know what to think. At the moment I don't think it's fish or meat. (a Dutch saying )

Review time:
Absolutely love this jacket, and it's been my main jacket this winter at 70+ wears. Only switching to more technical jackets when it gets really cold. (-10 C or colder. I'm naturally a bit warm, so that point might come sooner for others). It handles rain and snow without problem, certainly waterproof enough for my use, while still being breathable and never stuffy.
Probably the most versatile jacket I own, goes perfectly with denim, but I've even used it over a suit.
I've got the Olive version as well, but can't really beat the black one for versatility.Super practical with plenty of generous pockets. I've often left the bag/backpack at home as a result.
Love the feel of the fabric, hefty yet smooth, really puts to shame a lot of other jackets I've had in the past.
It's got the best zipper I've come across.
The tall collar keeps you warm when it's cold and windy. If I had to pick only one IH jacket, even with all the incredible denim jackets, this might be it.
As for sizing I'm typically XXL in IH shirts, and this jacket is perfect in XL.

@JunkPants agree with all the sentiments here, mine doesn't get quite as much wear it deserves cause I'm almost always rocking a denim jacket, but when I see it's raining (or that rain is due) I get a little bit happy inside cause I can put this bad boy on.
I went for my usual shirt size L, and it definitely feels a little over sized compared to how I usually like my clothes to fit, but it just feels so right.
Had more compliments about this jacket than any other peice of clothing I own, and I just love the way the sateen feels. Such understated quality
I'll grab an olive one in medium someday, for a sharper, more fitted look.

@T4920 I suppose in Norway we have more days in a year where a denim jacket may be a bit too light.
I think this jacket can look great either fitted or loose. A bit oversized with the waist tightened can be a good look as well. Anything works with an M-65 really imo.
The feel of this sateen is indeed something special , instant feel of quality. And like you, this jacket seems to garner compliments. And people seem surprised by the weight of the fabric, and the jacket itself, if they handle it.
(Nobody ever seems to give a damn about your jeans )

Good morning from Canada.
Thinking of picking one of these up and had a few questions that I can’t seem to find answers to so here goes …
Would, someone be kind enough to post picture(s) of the inside of the jacket? I for the life of me can’t find any on the net. Specially, I’d like to see what the lining looks like and where the inside pockets are located.
Next, the only size left (that might work for me) is the XL. It looks fairly large through the chest and body, but the shoulders looks perfect. I’m a XXL in UHFs, and I wear a XL in the IHJ75 parka. Do you think the XL would work for me? I plan to wear it over UHFs and thermal long sleeves.
Lastly, I’m totally unfamiliar with the Sateen material. Is this like a dense weave cotton, almost “slippery” feeling?
EDIT: is the zipper similar to the one used in the N1? I love the way that one looks and operates.
Thanks in advance folks!

I found some of the answers to my questions in the olive thread. Specifically sizing.
Still interested to see pictures of the lining and whether the zipper is the same as the N1 (looks like it to me).
-
@bwscott thanks so much for those pictures. The zipper does indeed look the same. Really appreciate it man!

No problem.
I sized down from my medium western shirt size to a small, the shoulders always felt too tight and I found that after a while the seams contracted a bit and made the sleeves look short. I bought a medium the following year and it’s a huge improvement, way more comfortable, fits quite wide and loose like an m65 should.

@bwscott thank you for this. Sounds like most go down one size from what I’m reading. Some go with their typical size ….
Happy you found a good fit!
