IHSH-237-BLK - Ultra Heavy Flannel Crazy Check Western Shirt - Black
-
Thanks dudes.
Anyone wash these yet? If so, do you notice a change in fit?
-
UHF’s from IH are all made more or less the same so the behaviour of the fabric is more or less understood.
The fabric shrinks evenly and proportionally on a medium hot wash (low or no spin, air dry). A very hot wash and tumble drying may distort the fabric a little.
I know US washing machines can be limited when it comes to settings so you could definitely use the hot tub. By a cheap baking thermometer and get the water to 60C, soak the shirt with a little soap and move it around in the water. Air dry on a hanger. You’ll lose 1-2cm in the body and sleeves and around 1cm in the shoulders and chest. The shirt will keep its shape.

I washed mine on cold in a top-loading machine with a regular cycle, and didn't notice any shrinkage.
-
me in a 2xl with a heavy undershirt on. comfortable everywhere, and feel very relaxed. is it too big on me? im not too worried about sleeve length.
-
ya thats true. i see you like it a bit on the slimmer side.
really wanted to make this shirt work.. maybe a hot wash will shink it up a bit.
-
@MassiveThighs Just my opinion, but I think the shirt is too big for you. I always look at where the shoulder seam lies on the shoulder when sizing shirts/jackets/etc. and your shirt looks like it hangs off of your shoulders. You might get the shirt to shrink some, but I don’t know how much.
As Neph mentioned, it is your opinion that matters, but personally I would size down.

Finally, mail call. Straight up flannellapalooza! Looking forward to trying on the IHSH-237 when I get home from work.

The L amd XL are a bit snug when i wear it with an undershirt. I was going to keep the large until i accounted for wash and shrinkage.
The xxl feels the most comfiest but of course lacks a bit of aesthetics.

I walked in my front yard to get a fit pic. Only in Alaska do you get photo bombed by a bull moose [emoji1787].

The snugness happens, especially with thick uhf flannels. Most of my UHF’s fit comfortably but I do have a couple that are snug. I wear an undershirt with all my flannels. At the end of the day you should go with what works for you.

??? Holy shit that is awesome! See them in New Hampshire but not in the yard

@MassiveThighs it may be you’re trying to fit a square peg into a round hole. The IH western cut isn’t as fitted and tapered as The Flat Head western cut, but it is still fitted and tapered, designed to follow the contours of the body. Snug but comfortable is the idea.
You mention you’ve bulked up and I guess that means gym work. Sometimes broad shoulders and chest just doesn’t work in westerns. A pretty good argument has been made on this forum that work shirt cuts look better on well built guys. They are slightly roomier over the chest but shorter in arms and body. I bet you’d be very happy with an XL work shirt.
-
@MassiveThighs The most important thing is that you feel comfortable wearing it. I agree it looks somewhat big but if you think you can make it work then keep it.
@@The_Bourbon_Denim_Guy Love that crazy UHF trifecta with the upgraded snaps! And what a lovely beast photobombing your pic!
-
thanks guys.
i think its just the picture i posted and me not snapping the shirt at the top, but the should seams sit perfectly where my shoulders break. i can layer this heavyweight shirts and still have good range of motion. after a wash or so i think it will shrink a bit, and im not getting any smaller due to the gym. really love this flannel and IH itself.

Alright, finally got an opportunity to get some fit pics without a photobombing moose [emoji23]
