IHSB-BB-NAT - Natural Horsehide Jacket - The Bareback
-
Wow, that is pretty drastic. Looks good, though.
-
Looks good, is that just a leather protectant? I’ve never owned a leather jacket, this will be my first in my 42 years.

Mustang Paste is a horse oil blend and it’s fantastic stuff! It does make natural leather turn a honey brown but personally I like the color quite a lot. I used it on a pre-owned Billingham bag I bought on ebay and it refreshed the leather nicely with one application.

I'm done now. I really like the result, needs time to blend though. It dried over night and thus is less dark then when I applied it. I didn't treat the inner parts.
Mustang Paste is awesome, by far my favorite leather care.

Dude that is beyond beautiful…and if you ever find another source for the Paste let me know.

Thanks a lot! I was lucky to get some paste through Dc4. Should probably pack away some more. The colour became beautiful after wearing in a bit.

Is Mustang Paste no longer being made?

Happy outtakes

That is a really great jacket, @Max Power. Really nice job.

Thanks @Richard

4 months evo. A lot of creases from carrying my daughter on the shoulders.

Looks awesome Max Power.

The only natural vegtan products i have are a cowhide wallet and a belt from other brands, i got a pretty fast strong patina on both these items, my wallet is kinda dark caramel for 10 months of daily wear, some of you own this jacket for years now and it looks like the aging process to darken this natural leather is kinda low (which is cool ) but i was wondering why ? Maybe because you have a big rotation of jacket and don't give this one a lot of wear ? Or because natural horsehide takes longer to absorbs sunlight than other leathers ? In all cases i just took advantage of the 15% deal to grab the last L today Can't wait to receive it !!!

Received my jacket yesterday, size is L, still have enough room to wear a light/middle weight denim jacket underneath, that beast is thick, can't wait to beat the crap out of it once summer is finished

Might put some recent pictures in here

@Max Power Looking good! I always smile when I see one of your posts. Thank you!

@Max Power love the color your jacket has become.
I have the type III version and have not treated mine with anything yet and have not laid it out in the sun. I am having some honeycomb patina happening that I really dig.
My question is if I use a treatment, would I lose those patina marks making it more uniform or would it just darken everything a bit with the already darker parts even darker?
I'm asking you and anyone else who may be able to lend an ear. I'm not sure if I want to use any treatment if it'll take away the contrast that has started to develop.

Your whole jacket will darken the same way and you will keep the contrast from your creases, it's like when you are oiling your boots and every parts with stains or indigo transfer darken also i guess ^^
