IH-634-XHS - 25oz Selvedge Denim Straight Cut Jeans - Indigo
-
@cbnewman here are some fit pics. First pic is from June 2015, at the start of the DWC, along with the IHSH-33, when new and tapered; pics 2 and 3 are after a few months wear; last pics are from Feb 2018, after 18+ months wear, 20+ washes. I retired them around about Feb/March 2017 because they were too tight, restrictive and uncomfortable, but still my favorite pair. You can see from the progression that the denim does shrink even though it's sanforized. You should consider this this, and whether to wash them a couple of times, or not, before tapering.
Also, when RCFG tapered them, my order was to hem to 34" inseam. Somehow, they missed that and only tapered them. The first pics with cuffs the jeans are about 35.5-36.0" inseam, and were way too long. After about 4 months I realized they hadn't been hemmed, and I sent them back to RCFG to have them hemmed to 34.0" inseam. 34 was still a bit long, but I wanted to get some Madd Stak Fadz.
Thanks. Those look awesome. Love the cut and fades. I’ll be sending these off to RCFG once the Kentucky humidity sets in and I’m spending more time in shorts

I have a pair of 634S-SEXIH13 23oz from a few years ago (it was actually my first pair of really good selvedge denim jeans). I find that denim very similar to the 25oz XHS. Very dark, develops great vertical fading with an almost rice-like texture, high contrast fades. That denim bleed dye like mad. I had blue marks on walls, furniture, car seats, etc. Nearly everything it touched for the first couple of months had blue scuffs. Another gorgeous pair retired, only get rare wear due to the size 33 being too small. 34 was sold out by the time I got into this game.
I didn't know Kiya's not a fan of the XHS. Personally, I think a 633-XHS would be a hot seller, but I'm just one consumer and I really have no idea what the broader market wants.

@Giles - are the measurements that are posted still accurate for the newest lot? Thanks
-
@Giles Is a restock expected on these before things get all autumnal?
-
I like big cuffs (at home in my birks) and I can not lie

Joined the IG-634-xhs club today, can’t wait for the fades to come in. I’ve been wearing my 666-xhs for a decent amount of time but wanted to try something new. Fit is a definitely looser than the 666s, but I’m not complaining, reminds me of all the things I love in the 888s. Plus I’m sure they’ll change a bit once I wash them. Debating doing a hot soak on these.

Sorry to be a redundant pain in the arse… what is the maximum amount of stretch i will be able to get out of the waist under pressure and possibly wet. If im going to spend this kind of $ on 2 pairs of pants i want to get it right the first time.
-
I'm
going to need a big 35 or small 36 waist, when are these due to be restocked? -
Hopefully not for a few months that will give me time to get back to work
-
Fuck it I'm going to go with 34 or 35. How many pairs of 34s & 35s usually get restocked at once?
-
Ok i will try to make this the last question. I know in the description it says "could shrink up to one inch" does this mean that if i wash on hot water they will shrink that much? Does anyone have any experience with shrinkage in this pair?
-
If you cold wash and hang dry… shrinkage will be negligible. I buy all my IH jeans so they fit like I want prior to a wash. Then just cold wash in the machine and hang dry. Worked so far for me. They will actually stretch out a bit bigger than new.

Does anyone have any experience with shrinkage in this pair?
read my previous post on page 121

If you scour all the XHS threads (as I once did) you’ll see a variance in reported shrinkage from very little up to an inch. It seems most people fall around .5”. The variations can be attributed to differences in washing machines, soaking times, temperatures, amount of agitation/machine rpm’s and so on.
One rule of thumb with the XHS is that with shrinkage and subsequent wear they should end up a little bigger than starting measurements (but not much).
