@Mizmazzle And I need Geno Smith,an ex Jet to come through for me. What could possibly go wrong? I’m banking on the new coach,who used to be the Defensive Coordinator of the Ravens having the defense ready. After that counting on “The 12th Man” to be extra loud.

With the first Sunday of the NFL season just hours away here are everyone’s picks in case you want to follow along. Last years MVP @scooter starts the season off with The Bills as does @pmadison95 @skt and @Sir_Cuffs-a-Lot @october-rust needs an ex Jets quarterback,Sam Darnold,and The Vikings to beat The Giants,and I’m also banking on an ex Jets quarterback as I need Geno Smith to beat The Broncos. Our newest member @shamrock8387 is looking to get started with The Bengals beating The Patriots as is @Twistlock @IrishHeart is expecting The Jets to be jet lagged on the west coast and the 49ers get the win for him. And last but certainly not least Forum moderator @goosehd jumps into the pool,for the first time, with Da Bears. There you have it. Good luck to everyone!

Thanks, @Jett129!

Washington starts their undefeated season today!

@deanclean lol
-
@Oaktavia haha anything is possible! All I know for sure is they will be better than last season.
-
Steelers get a fresh start in an hour. Glad Pickett is gone. LETS GOOOO

@deanclean My first wife was from Washington and she and her family were lifelong Redskins(Old name) fans and the only way I could marry their daughter was if I was a Redskins fan. Anyway I was in DC when they beat The Dolphins with Theisman and Riggins,went to the NFC championship game where I saw Theisman and Montana play. Fast forward,that marriage doesn’t work out,and my current wife and family are Giants fans,so rooting for Washington was not going to work out. These days I root for The Chiefs,but keep hoping that somehow Washington will get it together again and be a respectable franchise.

@Jett129 very cool story. I too have been a Redskins fan forever. Basically because a buddy of mine watched them every week and if I wanted to hang out and have beers with him I knew every Sunday it would be possible. Hard to believe that such a great team has gone so wrong. Hopefully the new ownership can slowly make things better.

@Matt said in American Football (NFL):
I shall self console.
Im not sure I like the sound of that @Matt -
One more game left in week 1 of this NFL season and @IrishHeart needs the 49ers to beat NY Jett’s. How many times will they mention that Rogers got hurt on the 4th play last season? The over/under is 4.5!

Week 1 of the 2024 NFL season is in the books and boy do we have a lot to unpack. Growing up the premier sports show was ABC’s Wide World of Sports,and their opening montage was a series of clips featuring the Thrill of Victory and the Agony of Defeat. Thursday night at Arrowhead Ravens/Chiefs. Ravens are driving down the field,Lamar hits Isaiah Likely in the back of the end zone,but wait his toe is on the line,and @Matt experiences The Agony of Defeat,or in this case it was the agony of De-Toe,which already makes him a candidate for the worst beat of the year award. For @oaktavia this was one of the rare occasions where he was happy and sad at the same time,as his Ravens take the L but he’s still in the pool. As I’m watching this unfold I was thinking that this can’t be happening to @steelworker again,but The Chiefs get the W and Steelworker is still swimming. Friday night in Brazil and all the way from Denver I could hear @Mizmazzle singing Fly Eagles Fly,as Saquan Barkley seemed to be the one of the few who could find his footing on that field,scored 3 touchdowns as The Eagles defeat The Packers. @goosehd is checking the scores on the Titans/Bears game and posting I’m not going to be in this very long,but just like that he’s doing backflips,like Simone Biles,as her husband,Jonathan Owens does a scoop and score on a blocked punt,and the Chicago defense saves Caleb Williams and Goose’s rookie debuts. It would not go that well in Cincinnati for rookie @shamrock8387 and veteran @Twistlock as The Patriots with a bunch of no name(at least to me)players flat out beat The Bengals. Jamar Chase did play but to no avail. @skt @pmadison95 @Sir_Cuffs-a-Lot and last years MVP @scooter all picked The Bills thinking this would be like taking candy from a baby. SKT is posting just like last year,but Josh Allen was not about to let this happen and The Bills come back and once again we have the Thrill Of Victory. When The Bengals got beat I was thinking I was real slick calling the audible and picking The Seahawks,and like the other guys I’m following the score and The Broncos score not 1 but 2 safetys,and I’m thinking the new motto in Denver is Safety First or maybe @Mizmazzle has my Voodoo Doll for picking against his Broncos,or that’s what I get for banking on an ex-Jet. Somehow The Seahawks settle down and for a change I get to experience the Thrill of Victory. Speaking of ex-Jets Sam Darnold’s time in SF paid off as he looked like the second coming of Joe Montana as The Vikings destroyed The Giants giving @october-rust the victory. On to Monday Night Football,or Aaron Rodgers the Sequel.Would he last more that 4 plays(They only mentioned it 3 times) Well he did last more than 4 plays,and he didn’t look all that bad,but the 49ers were just too good and @IrishHeart also gets to experience the Thrill of Victory. We say Ciao for Now to Matt,Twistlock and Shamrock8387. Football only on Thursday,Sunday and Monday this week.
