@PSB:
I just transitioned my 666XHS into my work jeans, so my previous work pair of 634SExIH23 are gonna get some rest. Figured I'd snap some pics before I cleaned them up and put them away.

RE: IH-666S - The Devil's Fit Indigo - Slim Tapered
Hello!
Just adding my .02 on the fit of these, hopefully will help someone.
- I am a true 31 waist (15.5).
- Most of my IHs are a 32, as I prefer a slightly looser top block/waist.
- Most of my IHs that are 32, are a bit looser in the legs than I prefer.
I purchased these in a 30 and found the fit to be damn near perfect.
- Through the legs, the fit is spot on for me. Well tapered yet can still easily fit over various boots, shoes, etc.
- The top block is roomy enough to allow for comfortable movement. No issues through the hips or crotchal region.
- The waist is roomy enough that I can fit my hand down the front easily (not for any particular reason, fyi). But fitted enough not to require a belt.
Comparing to the 666XHS and 666UHR - the 666S in size 30 is probably the best off the rack fit I could have wished for without the pain tax to get them there. Likely going to trade some long-term comfort for short term fit (i.e. denim from XHS/UHR may ultimately be more comfortable over time) but if you want a perfect fit with little effort, consider the 666s.
Really well designed denim! Hope this helps.
Take care,
KS

RE: IH-666SB - Superblack Devil's Fit
Well, this might be a bit late for some folks but just in case…
- As I mentioned in another post, I am a true waist size 31 (15.5").
- In most IH denim, I wear a 32 based on personal preference for fit (e.g. some room in the waist).
- In most IH denim, the downside of a 32 for me, is the fit through the legs is a bit roomier than I'd like.
I recently picked up a pair of these (666SB) in a 29 and the fit is perfect for what I was looking for. No problems buttoning, top block was initially a little snug but loosened really quickly. Within a few days, fit was very comfortable. The measurements provided by IH, are spot on.
- 29 in these will fit like a 31, over time.
- 30 in these will likely fit like a 32, over time.
Just my findings but likely vary per body type. Hope this helps.
Take care,
KS

RE: Seattle, WA (USA)
Definitely go to Blue Owl Workshop. Getting my 666XHS hemmed there on Friday. Owner/Curator Jay and his staff are all very friendly and super knowledgeable.
If you make it over to the east side of Lake Washington Asher Goods is also a good spot to check out.
Freeman On Capitol Hill is a pretty good little shop as well. A good selection of Left Field denim.
If you are purely looking for a denim place then nothing can touch Blue Owl. It's closest competitor would be Self Edge Portland.
Wow, late to the party. Agreed with the above. Blue Owl is amazing. Asher is good, and those guys are tight with the Self-Edge guys.

RE: IH-666-XHS - 25oz Selvedge Denim Slim Straight Cut Jeans - Indigo
I've not the perfect body type for anything & have a stack of denim & a bunch of posts b1tchin' & whining to prove it.
U hit it on the head though, different strokes for different folks.
Just seems mean to do that to yourself plus for me form follows function so not being able to do basic things like sit & climb is kind of insane. We not talking a ball room gown or tuxedo it's denim.
I fully admit you're correct here. It's some type of twisted satisfaction I get from enduring self-inflicted pain just for well fitted denim, especially given the sheer mass of choice out there right now. Trust me, if I ever start down the tattoo path, I'm certain I'd be a walking canvas filled with ink and art.

RE: IH-666-XHS - 25oz Selvedge Denim Slim Straight Cut Jeans - Indigo
Although I admire all of your dedication in getting in your jeans if I cannot run, jump, blah, blah then the cut or the denim isn't for me. I like pain as much as the next guy, but I just get tattoos for that fix hahaha
Sure, different pain for different gains. I get it. For me, IH simply doesn't offer "the perfect" fit for my body. Part of the satisfaction is molding a pair into the perfect fit but that doesn't mean everyone should have the same experience. There are some folks that just have a perfect IH body type which requires little break-in to find their grail fit.
Take care,

RE: IH-666-XHS - 25oz Selvedge Denim Slim Straight Cut Jeans - Indigo
@adam313:
25oz is 25oz, ain't gonna get any lighter no matter how many soaks. The soft, pajama-likeness is a ways away, but you'll get there.
However, you can take advantage of the stretching properties of slightly-damp denim:
-Soak jeans. Doesn't have to be long-time, just thoroughly soaked. OR, you could just soak the top-block area and leave everything else dry, since you only need waist-stretch.
-When you hang jeans to dry, give some tugs around the waistband to stretch out the denim in that area. You do not need to pull on the jeans recklessly. I divide the waistband into parts and incrementally go about "tugging" on each part and work my way around.
-Dry until slightly damp. Damp enough that they are cold to the touch, but not so wet that water gets squeezed out when you button them. Go easy on the buttonhole stitching while damp.
-Do calisthenics, or take or walk, or squat for a little bit, or sit down for a little bit, whatever feels like its working ;D. When wet, the denim can stretch a bit easier and quicker. See how it goes.
-OR, you can go about it like some other folk, who rig up a stretching apparatus, 2x4 or some more advanced contraption that works like a tire-jack from the inside of the waistband. Can't comment on these (barbaric) methods, as I've never used them.
Great advice. The two things above that Adam mentioned that helped me the most:
-
Walking/Sitting/Stairs - Sitting in an upright position (e.g. standard chair) and taking stairs when available, really helped stretch the denim through the hips and thighs. The first few times going up stairs wasn't what I'd call "comfortable" but now I no longer feel any resistance. So either the denim stretched, I've lost weight, or 25oz denim has the ability to turn bone into more flexible matter. I'm not ready to give up on the possibility of the latter.
-
Tugging. Before I put the denim on for the first time, I buttoned them and started to work my way around the top block firmly but not recklessly, tugging the denim to help loosen. Not sure if it helped but just in case…
Take care,

@den213:
Maybe you should consider the Beatle Busters?
Not sure if this was for me but I'm going to respond.
Just picked up a few pair of BBusters in 30. Excited to give these a try as I've heard great things about the fit. I will report back!

RE: IH-666-XHS - 25oz Selvedge Denim Slim Straight Cut Jeans - Indigo
** Quick update on the war **
- Me (size 31). Opponent: IH 666XHS (size 30)
- After ~14 days of normal wear and a few lunges, the top block FINALLY relented and stretched a bit.
- I am going to take some measurements and post for reference, when I get home this evening.
- The waist didn't take long to stretch and by the end of the first day, fit well.
- The block - through the hips - was the most painful point. 12 days before I felt relief. 14 before comfort.
- Didn't wash, didn't soak. Didn't do anything unusual. Just lots of sitting upright and walking.
In all, I'd recommend IH consider creating a roomier top block for those folks looking for a tapered fit through the legs without giving up comfort in the hips. The size 32 fits well (e.g. relaxed fit) through the top block but I'm not as happy with the fit through the legs. Just personal preference and no, I'm not looking for "yoga pant" fit.
Best part of the entire battle? I find a reason to love each pair I own, for unique reasons! As much as I love the fit of the 666XHS in 30 (I paid the pain tax in full), I throw on the 32s and feel perfectly content.
Hope this helps someone that might be between sizes.
Happy New Year!

From one 31 to another, I'd stick with the 30. Should work out great.

RE: IH-666-XHS - 25oz Selvedge Denim Slim Straight Cut Jeans - Indigo
@BloodnThunder excellent point! Just getting ready for work this morning and went to get dressed and without thinking, just grabbed the 30s and put them on.
I do hope that one day, the folks at Iron Heart realize they make more than just denim. For people like me, they make family members you wear.

RE: IH-666-XHS - 25oz Selvedge Denim Slim Straight Cut Jeans - Indigo
Thought I'd add to the myriad of other fit stories, hopefully help someone out in the process. I am a true 31 waist and have both a 30 and 32 in this model.
-
32 fits great in the waist and I can easily pull about 1.5" away from my body. Tight through the crotchal region, everywhere else is fine.
-
30 fits tight in the waist. Could get all buttons done with some effort. REALLY narrow through the crotchal region and pretty tight along the thighs.
I decided to wear the 30s and see if they stretched. They do. I got an 1" in the waist and .5 in the thighs after 3 days of typical wear. They haven't stretched through the hips yet but I am hoping they will give at some point, or might not be having children in the future.
After a bit of wear in both sizes, if I had to choose one it would be the 30. Over time, I believe these will relax to a 31 while still retaining decent taper through the thighs and lower legs. But you pay a pain tax to get there. The 32s are perfect now but over time will adopt a more relaxed fit. Again, this is just for my body type.
Happy Holidays!
