Went on a 3 day trip to Irland, drove the Ring of Kerry, image taken at Torc Waterfall. The whole trip was wonderfull!

Story time
Last year I received a pair of 888-UHR as a gift from @Memphisakers and it actually started a short lived topic called 'the filthy gift' where you give away an item and the person who wants it also gifts an item etc. in Memoriam of late forum legend Mike.
Fast forward about 18 months of almost continuous wear and 3 soaks. Hope I made Mike proud
I could tell by the color of the water, that this would be a good soak.
The coulor after the rinse is like perfect blue
This is where I'm at:
I'll be sending em back to IH for a hem and will take a picture under natural light once I get 'em back, these pictures don't to this pair justice
Last saturday was one for the history books. I was able to grill a whole left beefribcage over an open fire on a home made setup. Took about 8u of both direct and indirect heat. The result was incredible and I ended up sharing the food with 40 people.
The food and drink was good, but the time spend with friends and family were de real soulfood. This is why I love BBQ.
like you, I'm on a similar path. In the last "Ironcast" episode, @Blowoutthecobwebs spoke about a Netflix series called 'the minimalists' that I actually watched a couple years ago when it just came out and while the guys voice is quite annoying what he said still sticks with me to this day.
My wife left me in the beginning of last year and despite it being an emotional shitstorm, it also gave me the opportunity to start fresh. Half my house was empty and I could chose if I wanted to replace something or not. Instead of just going to Ikea and getting the same items, I'm taking my time living with less stuff and found out I rarely miss anything. If I do have to buy something, I'm going for the best item to serve my purpose.
As for clothes, the biggest thing that got me to reduce my wardrobe is to only buy black clothes. (with the exception of my 21/23OZ because IH doesn't make that in black YET)
Going into the city center, I see so many people aimlessly shopping around trying to fill some sort of void that it's really making me sad sometimes. Or going into stores like H&M or Zara and seeing all that crap clothing just waiting to be worn once and thrown out, all the labor and effort for people who don't need it... We give cars such a bad rep for ruining the planet, and nobody bats an eye about people throwing out 81 pounds of clothing each year, it blows my mind.
Anyway, I always have an eye open for interesting stuff, but rarely do I buy something now because I 'need it' and that helps keep my focus on what's most important: my kids.
I love how the crazy scales start at 4
Thanks for the comments guys, I didn't know Mike outside the forum, but to me, he kind of symbolized the spirit of this forum.

I have an IF blanket (a Wes Lang colab) and my cats love it for sleeping but don't try to destroy it at all. (Unlike my sofa or chairs)
Ofcourse I don't know your cats @WhiskeySandwich and @PJ but I think you might be safe. Also these are the best constructed and warmest blankets I've ever seen / owned.
@GardenState I couldn't tell you, I have not yet owned a pair of XHS.
@GardenState thank you! I'm waiting for their return and will take a couple more pictures under natural light. or, the guys at IHUK could put them under their lens? @Graham
I did a hot soak (like 60°)before my first wear to try and get all the shrink out. otherwise you'll get that shrink later on and risk the creases needing to resettle.
I also never machine washed my pair because I have a mortal hatred for lightning fades. Only soaks (always do a hot one with soap and then a second one with lukewarm water to get the pair nice and clean without soap residue. Then hang dry till bone dry
@TinMan Did you do a warm soak before your first wear?
