White's Boots

will be worth it when you get them.
that's a really nice makeup on that boot.

The only bad (shocking would be a better word) part about White's is the arch height, especially on the smoke jumper. If you have a low arch or just haven't worn boots that high before, it takes some getting used to while your feet stretch out. They feel great after a couple of weeks.

Is the arch so high that people with flat feet will have problems wearing them over time? My Alden Indys are pretty much completely flat and very comfortable for my flat feet.

My feet aren't flat, but my dad's and sister's are. I might have a lower arch than others as a result. The SJ hurt like a sonuvabitch for about 2 months, but now they feel wonderful. I kept another pair of shoes around just in case during the break-in period, but never had to switch.
My only real criticism is they don't use a cork insole that will mold to your feet like Alden uses.
You can also have the Whites lowered by a fair amount. I think it's a 1/4" max, but it should make a pretty big difference. The type of sole might matter too.

You might want to try buildaboot.com by bakers. Pretty fun website. I ordered my white's there.

In a couple of months there will be, Gosport….But you'll need to be around a UK 9.5 or Japanese 27.

damn my large feet (UK 10 and wiiiide)

MOD, same as me. If you can get to Nottinghamshire you're welcome to try my SD's.
On a side note, I was just talking to a local cobbler and moaning about having to put my Whites away for the winter, due to their single leather sole. His solution was that if I take them to him, he will bond a Vibram Commando front sole to them, which I can use through the winter, and then he will remove it for me in the spring, for the bargain price of £30 !!
Is this a good idea?
