I'm sure it will be fine, and thanks for your good wishes guys.
Reading the internet doesn't help me though, half the sites make it sound like I'm going to be fine, whilst the other half tell me that I should be in hospital :-\

My mother in law has just been over and basically questioned my manhood, as she had three gastric ulcers at once whilst raising two kids, working a full time job, running a house etc…..
-
I take it you are a fellow sufferer Jon? Omeprazole stops your stomach producing so much acid right?
-
When the doctor first told me, and after what I read on the interweb, I was entering ballistic hypo mode for a while. This morning I actually couldn't understand why I wasn't taken to hospital immediately :-\
It was the bit where the doctor said "Your tiredness is caused by your ulcer bleeding"….....fucking great, so I'm bleeding internally and you want to see me in three weeks????? I 'll be dead by then !!!!!(was my initial reaction).
-
As I stated before: it's a normal male reaction… We understand... Share your story with a woman though, and she'll laugh in your face...
After having worked with only women for 7 years straight now, I've learned one thing: they're even tougher and stronger than 25 oz Iron Heart jeans... And just as nuts...
-
Yeh, my mother in law pretty much just did that.

Be well mate!
-
Thanks Michael, I'm sure I'm just being typically male about an illness.

mega did you actually have an upper endoscopy (scope down your throat)? or at least a radiologic study (upper GI, not just a plain xray)? if not you don't really know for sure if you have an ulcer and your doctor is probably just guessing. ulcer is sometimes a trashcan diagnosis like migraine headaches or irritable bowel disease or arthritis
if you really have a bleeding ulcer you will either be vomiting blood, crapping black tar, or both. if not you're probably fine.
do you take a lot of aspirin/nsaids (ibuprofen) or have other particular risk factors?

mega, pm jaco as he either has some medical experience or watches a lot of ER, General Hospital & Grey's Anatomy.
chin-up dude & grow a pair like your mother-in-law (all love mini :D)

Jaco, I won't go into symptoms ,as it's a bit disgusting, but it pretty much points towards one. I have a long history of digestive issues, none caused by painkillers (I hardly use any). I have a three week course of Omeprazole, and if that doesn't sort things I'll be booked in for an endoscopy. The British NHS doesn't like to carry out any form of hospital procedure, unless they are absolutely sure that it is necessary (cost cutting and all that good stuff). I have a blood test next week to check how much HB I've lost.
Monday, I'll grow a pair once I stop myself reading internet diagnosis websites
