Boncoura

Boncoura has been around since 2011 but somehow never took off in the West. One reason is probably the short default inseam they come with. The brand was founded by Hisashi Morishima. Like many Japanese brands, Boncoura also has a strong focus on doing repros of Levi’s 501. This pair here is the Boncoura 66 and thus based on the Levi’s 501 from the ‘60s with all the typical details.
Boncoura is pretty expensive compared with the other Japanese repro brands and that is probably hard to swallow for some, especially as the jeans are very basic looking without being made from heavy, slubby, colored weft denim or other “in your face” details. The denim Boncoura uses weighs 14.5oz and has an interesting selvedge line. Boncoura jeans are sewn very clean and neatly. The used hardware is very nice as well. I think Boncoura is the only brand I know where all the buttons are right side up and that is true for the front of the buttons but also the back of the buttons. This somehow shows how much care is put into making these jeans.
The fit of the 66 model is generous in the top block with a high-ish mid rise and a moderate taper in the leg.
The offcial website is here, as you can see they offer a lot more than just jeans:

Thanks guys!
Their short inseams are probably the real problem when you want to buy their jeans. They are borderline for me.
But I agree they have a lot to offer. Prices are quite high in comparison with many of the other Japanese brands though -
Thanks for sharing @beautiful_FrEaK those are a wonderful fit on you. How short an inseam are we talking?
-
Thanks mate
We are talking 30.5" after the initial machine wash (so might shrink even more). I'm a touch over 6' but probably my legs aren't that long but I can also live with a short-ish inseam. -
Ha! that is perfect for me…
