from how i had understood the new-ish rules was that it needs to be like 2 or 3 steps or actions after catch. and he only planted and took one additional step. whatever. too late now
But that sort of runs conflict with the rule that only requires you to simply cross the plane with the ball in order for it to count as a score.

in regard to the touchdown question the player has to have the ball in his possession & under his control after it breaks the plane. so the ball bouncing around in your hands doesn't count as a touchdown unless the player can gain control of the ball.
my stomach is a mess but i am happy with the 3rd down conversions & the way the Giants have been able to control the ball & play their kind of football. far from over if we can keep this up for the 3rd & 4th . . . .
