ALDEN

kind of a toss-up. i've never had a bad experience with them, but i know of folks that have had quality control issues with their products. imho they are nice dress kind of footwear, but at the same time these:

seem to have held up very well.

Well i found a seller on ebay that aparently sells great shoes and boots at great prices…Take a look at his page. Nothing great now but in his feedback page i see plenty of Alden being sold.

honestly these SE x LS x Alden's are the most comfortable boots in my arsenal!
sorry for the lack of detail shots, self timers aren't good for shooting your own shoes!

Just got my first pair of Alden's in the mail today. After a 1 year 5 month (!!!) pre-order. Pictures, impressions, and whatever else to come after I walk around the house in 'em a bit.
J what pair did you grab?

LeatherSoul collab – Natural CXL Tanker Boots.
First impressions: The smell fresh out of the box is tremendous. The one thing I love about purchasing "high-end" boots is that they all smell delicious. You weirdos know what I mean.
They are quite a bit "longer" than my Whites or Vibergs, but the fit was surprisingly snug. The natural CXL looks great right away and I feel like they will be a pair of stunners with time. They are also immensely lighter/thinner than my Whites/Vibergs but we all knew that. I plan on wearing these in warmer weather and maybe to the rare classy event I may attend. They definitely have a more dignified appearance than some of my other boots, but that's the point. Need some variety.
The wait was quite ridiculous but it honestly didn't bother me. Maybe I've learned patience in my years. Who the hell knows but I'm happy to have them now.
Onto the pictures, my apologies for the one that is a bit blurry.

GOD DAMN!

Very very nice Jestre

nice boots. Not sure I would be able to stomach a 1.5 year wait time to be honest. In fact, fuck that shit. But still, those boots are really nice.
-
THat is pretty crazy waiting that long…I probably could have figured out how to make em myself in that time..Is that the norm for Aldens?
-
Well the expected "due date" of them was a few months ago. I knew it was going to be at least a year wait from the get-go. So they were scheduled to be done (mostly) within this timeframe.
"Two years ago, we sat down with Art Tarlow, the owner of Alden Shoe and came up with these two models, our first in natural CXL."
– I reckon if the owner himself had a hand in these, he didn't care if it took longer to make sure they were perfect.--The tanker boot itself has a unique touch that could add extra time as well.
"The Mock and Norwegian skin stitch toe detail is done completely by hand (Alden is the only American shoemaker skin stitching by hand) using two needles and two threads- no more than 6 boots are completed per day."Either way, the boots are quite excellent.
