cheaper yes, a lot cheaper, well that's subjective. what's a lot? I would say not a lot my opinion. logically the price goes up a bit in the west what with costs of importing, shipping, currency exchanges, plus giles and co have to make money and consider their expenses as well
but also remember, some of the products that you can get through giles or self edge are not available in Japan, in particular a lot of the denim. No 18oz there, no beatle busters, no self edge collabs, no 666xhs. Hell I don't even think the 634sb is sold in Japan. It's mainly 634 and 461 over there.

nope not even that much difference, go check ironheart.jp

Not completely true. Definitely more limited as far as Self Edge or IHUK collabs, but I do spy some of the above. I am sure G can clarify for us…

not completely true, correct. I should have said not regularly available, and I think im probably mistaken about the XHS. Point is don't expect someone proxying for you from Japan to be able to get every piece you can get here
Giles does not get enough credit for the growth of the brand and the expansion of the product line. We know Haraki as the heavy denim master but remember Giles is right there as the driving force behind a lot of these great denims and cuts, were it not for him these products likely would not exist

I'm normally wearing the one on the top, but other than that this is basically my method. I prefer that they not overlap, but it looked better like this for the photo. The jeans can drape nicely on an extra couch if you have one. Depending on how precisely/gently you lay them down, you might be able to keep the creases set from top to bottom the whole time.

Anyone have any tips or recommendations in regards to storing IH jeans when asleep. Such as hanging with something or just laying them down?
I just hang mine by the waistband from a hook in the closet. Sometimes I'll just dump them on the floor in a pile. Really, they're just jeans. It's not that big a deal.

Anyone got suggestions for a good backpack? I have a few criteria:
-
It need to fit a small laptop and a small camera with 2-3 extra lenses
-
It need to be canvas (oiled or waxed) or if not canvas then denim or similar material.
-
not too big
The Gr1 seems to fit the bill, but it is nylon and i hate nylon with a vengeance. I pretty much just want something that looks and feels like a domke camera bag.

Thank you Jaco.
Yes the xhs is now available in Japan. Haraki asked me if he could sell them, had I said no - he would not have done.

Please refer to the thread about why triple works is named triple works. Iron heart is made with quality materials (quality meaning the best) top notch workmanship and with a thoughtful design. It's made to last and to get beat on and take punishment like a champion.
Also consider the weight. I can go to sears and get levis STF for like 60usd. They're 12oz or probably less, use cheap ass cotton and are constructed by factory workers… Not craftsman.
IH jeans are like a brand new top end sports car where most other jeans are like a shitty Plymouth horizon

not gonna work, you can give a bunch of reasons but none are likely to justify a second pair of jeans, actually you think about it lots of reasons (built to last, etc) actually argue why you shouldn't need a second pair
you gotta take the approach that you enjoy them, they make you feel good when you wear them, you work hard for your money etc and that's what you choose to spend it on. if that don't work I don't know what to say.

Dunno what else could possibly be said. They aren't magic, they're just pants that are well made and heavy as all feck. They're expensive because of the cost of materials, cost of workmanship and shipping. I don't think IH advertises like huge mall brands so that probably isn't a big part of the cost. The fact that they do small runs of items brings the cost up too.
For me it's worth the price to know that
My shit will last
It's not made by children or people that are basically slaves to a company
It's made from the best materials for the job
IH is no BS clothing.Edit:

Think of any hobby or thing ur wife does that u dont do urself and is her own thing like getting her nails done or maybe buying a good book to read. That will be ur comparison with what u spend on ur hobby and what she spends on her hobby/Grooming I justified the jeans thing with a feel bad for me story. I said hunny Its not only a pair of jeans that will yes last because of how well they are made but they are the one thing I actually consider a hobby of mine. Yes I like the way the look but that $500 is not being paid so i could look good in a $500 pair of jeans. I enjoy the journey of them and the story they will tell. Same concept as someone who like puzzles or model airplanes. U have to get her away from that they are JEANS and show her how they are a hobby or a puzzle. I had the same issue at 1st with my girl but now she gets what comes with buying a pair of jeans and how I can justify the money. Look at everything we do with those jeans…We take tons of pics & post em , talk about them, baby them, and of course fekk em up. Dont forget after we are done with our project jean they are still worth quite a bit.. So whatever the initial investment is will be partially recouped unlike any other dept store brand. BABY ITS MY ONE AND ONLY HOBBY

I can't do specifics because this is not a science. But recently I helped Haraki procure some Alpaca for some stuff we are doing next winter. This stuff is seriously expensive wool which I got from Peru, had it shipped to UK and then shipped to Japan. When I told Haraki how much it was going to be per yard, I thought he would go apeshit, but his response was calm "cheaper than 21oz"…...
