some great background info from christophe loiron (founder & owner of MF!) on this:
@nakala:
helo guys, i want to ask..
in one of mister freedom shirt, there's something interesting,, the blue fabric behind collar .. what is the name of that ?
and what for they use it ? is it just for some aesthetic or any function of that ?Originally used to insert removable 'collar stays', to keep collar points straight. Called 'col a baleine' in french because those stays were first made of whale 'bones'.
An 'Apache' trick was to stitch razor blades on the inside of their coat collars, to prevent being grabbed by the collar in street fights.
With shirting, sticking a blade in those concealed indigo popeline bags might have been an option…
The white bias tape loops are designed to hold the scarf. -

@Chiba:
Anyone own the britches chaparral? Any fit pics or sizing advice?
Doesn't seem to be a very popular model, and there is not a lot of info on the web, but they look like an outstanding summer pant. I particularly like the 8oz indigo version. Had a chance to go hands on with them at a store the other day and the linen / canvas blend is pretty amazing.
Hi Chiba check out product details on MF page. I think you can go one down from what I remember reading there. (Unfortunately I do not own this nice pant but would go with the duck one)

oh yes the fall chapter begins
and check out as well the new batch of road champs

Wow, their engineer boots look amazing!

anyone care to help with the sizing of the deck jacket? looking to buy one but don't know what size i'd be…any help would be appreciated. I'm a medium in IH stuff, would a 40 work ? thanks guys!
-
Ahhh thanks. Is it just me or is the length pretty short? At least from what self edge's measurements suggest
-
I agree with Jestre.. I have a MF Deck / in a 40 / and I'm also mostly XLs in Iron Heart. And that 40 is plenty roomy on me. I wouldn't say it's short-waisted, per se. It's a bit shorter than a normal suit jacket.. If I wear it with a flannel underneath, untucked, the flannel definitely peeks out from under the Deck - but it's not enough that it looks sloppy or awkward. With Deck jacket on, arms to the sky, maybe you can see your belt.. but it doesn't come up much higher than that.
I'll throw up a pic as soon as I can, if that will help you Grand. Finally have a workable camera under my belt.

Yeah I'd appreciate that a lot. Thanks!

Already PM'd you but I own a 42 and wear Large in IH tops mostly. Guess I don't agree with the others. I would say a 40 would work for you and if not a 38 at the smallest.
6'2" - 175lbs

LandoC - IIRC your is one of the first gen. decks, without the troy lining, right?
here´s me wearing a size 40 at Unionville (highlighted the shit out of the pic, for a better view!)
…IHSH-20+IHT worn under the jacket!the 20 is just peaking out of the jacket a little bit, so no big problem imo! 5'11" ~200lbs.
i think i´d go with a 42 in the end!…

Mine is. However, there is a thick wool lining with the same windstopper material in between the outer fabric and the lining. Pretty sure they are the same exact thickness. I will measure mine for grandmasterben later today.

Here's my 40. 6'2 / 170ish. Finn - it is a great jacket, but the crunchy does disappear after a couple of weeks..
