White's Boots
-
Using it on the shaft of the boot should allow it to age more slowly, at least compared to the toe vamp and heel counter, since they're the areas that'll see the highest wear.
I'm pretty much set on a two-tone boot with the natural CXL used for the shaft, so I'm hoping that's the case, but if not it doesn't matter, I can always try something else on my next pair

Man up Fake-Tex
I have a pair of Semi Dress scheduled to be delivered tomorrow and I want to verify that I've got the sizing down. Once that happens, I'll get serious about ordering.
Jerk.

Reply #1977 from Finn I wonder how long that person wore those & what was done in them. I've a pair or two of boots made out of Natural CXL & although I will admit I take care of my goods . . . they look nothing like the leather in that image. they almost look like they have been polished or something that made them darker in a pretty uniform manner.
very curious.
still trying to decide what boots to commit to . . . .
-
Just make sure to request the celastic toe box; that will keep them from flattening out.
Can't help you with the last, sorry.

natural cxl basically just turns a rich brown when its aged. My OSB's are about as dark a pair of natural cxl as I have seen. I like them, not sure I would want a 8"+ boot n them though…

Chris - you cool with sharing some sizing info when you get your SD's? thx…

gonna see if I'm able to get more infos from the guy…give me a day or two though!
really would be interesting to know though...btw. you unsure about the make up or are you thinking about a different boot/style?
-
thanks for getting the additional info finn. i'm very curious about the care of those boots. although, it might just be my screen as the computer & the camera has been known to sometimes play tricks on me.
unsure about the boot i want to wear for Mega's-foot-wear-jamboroee. needs to be a pair of boots that i will wear at least three times a week for two years (no he hasn't put up any rules or anything just something i want to do). that's a hell of a commitment for me.
was thinking of going through my archives & seeing if there is anything that should be given a second shot at the spot light.
to get back on track, i have a pair of white's incoming that i have been meaning to build for some time. will post an image when they arrive & have to give big kudos to that kyle as the guy is really helpful & gets back to you pretty quickly. he's also honest about what he can & can not do which is rare.

Next two builds, as long as I dont change my mind…
Photoshopped this together.
Pulled this from a rakuten site

Planning on either SJ or SD on semi-dress last. As far as size is considered. I have a size 9D Alden INDY, but I have a slightly above average width about E, so I think I should have sized up on it since it is just a tad bit tight in toe box. I also wear Size 9D in the Classic Red Wing Moc Toe Boot width isn't a problem since there is lots of room in the toe box. Further reference sizes:
10 in Nike runners
42 in CP
9.5 in ClarksI am thinking 9E would be good. Your further input would be appreciated.
Thanks,
-
well, I am a 10.5 in Nike trainers. I brannock at a 10. My Whites are a 10 and I have a thumbs width of room up front when standing. I would not want anything smaller. I suggest doing the fitting method that White's and Bakers do, and sending the results to them.

Epic collection you have there! I feel pressure to play it safe and go monotone, but part of me wants to make my Bounty Hunters like the two toned Flat Heads. I like the lace toes too…..and the cap toes. I love these kind of decisions..
-
I agree, these are the best kind of decisions to have to make.
I have done the crazy boot make up, for my next boot I wanted something that I can truly wear every day, in every occasion, so I have gone monotone.

After 8 weeks, the wait is over.
