These are the ones that made the greatest influence on me. Not necessarily my favorites, but the ones that had the most impact.
MUSIC: "Purple Rain" by Prince, "Pretty Hate Machine" by Nine Inch Nails, "101" by Depeche Mode.
Each one made me reevaluate what music could (or should) be.
FILM: Star Wars.
To this day, every time the house light go out and I hear those opening notes of a Fox movie, somewhere deep in the back of my head the voice of a 7 year old boy whispers, "Star Wars!" Every. Single. F-ing. Time. What's more magical than that?
BOOK: "The Sword Of Shannara" by Terry Brooks.
The first book that my dad and I both read and talked about.
CLOTHING: I am a jeans and tee shirt guy. Always have been, always will be.
SPORT: The most pure sport in human history; the most egalitarian, least complicated sport possible. No equipment necessary and damn near every person who has ever lived has done it- running. What's more simple and more perfect than pointing at something and saying to your buddy, "race ya?"
FOOD: Never been that important to me, and if there was a pill that gave me everything I needed nutritionally, I could go days without eating. That said, I eat way more than I should, partly out of boredom.
DRINK: Bubble tea. (that one's just for Giles. )
RELATIONSHIP: Katie- my senior year of college. Generally speaking the worst, most unhappy relationship of my life. Mary Grace- my first year of grad school. A very, very bad year of school ended with getting blindside dumped. The most painful lessons are usually the ones best learned. Without those two, I never would have been ready for Julie…
FAMILY: I have a pretty standard assortment- wife, son, daughter, mother, father, sister, brother, nephews, etc., etc., but no one fills as much space and causes joy and sorrow in greater amounts than my son Benjamin. -
MUSIC: The Jam - All Mod Cons. Changed my life !
FILM: (this is tough) Great Expectations (1946), Star Wars (I feel the same as 'Chris' except I was 13), Any Coen Brothers. The list could go on!

One of my buds used to live next door to some of those guys.
That's awesome. Where are you/him from? It's a pretty small amount of people that know about them.
They started a huge conscious shift in me. Maybe it was coming anyway but they were definitely the catalyst.
edit I saw listen for some reason when you put live. Small world. I at one time lived a dozen blocka or so from them in Mpls.
-
Small world eh? He said they were very cool people and great next door neighbors.
-
^^
some of the most down to earth, amazing people I've meet have been thanks to Wookiefoot and their festivals, they really do attract and bring the good out of people.
You still in Mpls? I might be back in the area in the fall, if I am we should get together and have a beer and stare at each others jeans.

Tell me more about wookiefoot?!?! I'm interested to know what they are about and what kind of music they play.
"Obstacles are stepping-stones That guide us to our goals"

I spent a lot of time sitting here trying to think how to describe wookiefoot. Wookiefoot cannot be described. The best thing I can say is go to their band page and see for yourself.
They grew from a backyard band into a band which holds a yearly festival which proceeds go to charity and a 3000 person music festival in the fall. It's a festival in the midwest where like minded individuals hang out under some oak trees listening to music where like minded individuals can be hard to find sometimes. This will be their 10 year now and I was at the 3rd through 8th, I could go there this year even after missing the last couple and still see a lot of people I knew from previous years, it's gotten to be a small community where you see the same people year after year.
I cannot say enough good things about them and it's been interesting watching them progress as a band over 10 years from their first album to their sixth album and they have all been good. I have listened to all of them for countless hours as I've driven across the US and countless more in front of computer. And their side projects have been good also for the most part.
