Luggage Bags and Packs
-
G, I have two of the Tizip bags 30litre and 50litre sizes, seriously good bits of kit, simple but very effective.
A cheaper alternative is the "rack pack" roll closure waterproof bags, various sizes between 24 - 90 litres.

Right, so since Goruck stopped speaking to me, can anyone recommend me a decent quality small pack for Tommys school bag next year?

I still don't get rid of you or Fake Tex though, must be love

I have this one in the Great Lakes colorway(All Black). Tommy might need the medium backpack though.

I still sell Stella Artois beer and Grimbergen in my shop…

Shane, standard daypack looks like a winner.

End Clothing have a bunch of canvas backpacks in their sale right now. The Woolrich ones are made by Frost River, and there are also a few by Yuketen.

I'd be most tempted by the navy Woolrich knapsack.
Aiguille, as mentioned above, do some nice little packs. You'll need to dig around their website a bit to find them though.

Thanks Graeme, I really like the look of some of the Aiguille packs.

Frost River makes some awesome packs. Definitely worth checking out…

Feckin-A they do, they're in Duluth too. I may have to take a road trip and take copious shots of the factory and product lines for the forum… Of course I wouldn't walk out empty-handed

The Aiguille bags are nice. Alban sell a couple in their shops here in London, so you could take a look when you're next down.
Makr do some nice looking canvas bags, which the 189 Store is selling for £110. Probably cheaper than shipping them in from the States at that price.

South 2 West 8 are another maker of canvas packs. I don't know much about them, apart from the fact they're yellow.

If you do I would love to see the shots. After a friend snagged one of their bags I've been chomping at the bit to snag one…

I'm thinking maybe the weekend of the 26th. Glad you posted on these, didn't know about them.

Now it's been a few months since there was a few GoRuck purchases, how are all y'all finding them?
I'm interested in their usage as travel/day packs, more so than commuter. One of the reviews (http://brooksreview.net/2012/12/gr1/) and Todd's concerns earlier was that due to not being top-loading it's a pain for travel. What does Real World have to say?
Thanks in advance.

Mega, for a school bag don't get something that's going to make Tommy the target for attacks having a weird bag. School kids will pick the smallest thing to pay someone out over. Quite generally if it's Dad making the decisions the ribbing is twice as bad…..
Don't worry about that Snow Man, Tommy makes all his own decisions on clothes and accessories and he isn't the kind of kid/ it isn't the kind of school where bullying is much of an issue. Tommy is generally quite popular at school, so it has never really been an issue for him luckily, I had to get by with being a foot taller than anyone else, and a punch first ask questions later kind of guy ha ha…..but that was a different time.

I use my GR1 every day, it's a great pack, easily the best I have owned and I have owned a LOT of packs. If anything I probably don't abuse it as much as such a hefty purchase warrants though, but I am happy that I have a pack which will probably last me 10 years should I want it to.
Loading isn't an issue, the zips go full length so just unzip it as much as you need to really. I have travelled with it quite a bit this year and it's been a great companion bag for me, apart from attracting some unwanted attention at Jakarta Airport for its "America" flag.

I've been rocking D666's GR2 for the past ten days around Peru and it is seriously one amazing pack. Two huge thumbs ups from this guy!!!
