Not sure about ESPN but yahoo max is 12 people I believe
ESPN is max 20 people
I'd be game for joining the UK contingent..
-
Oh it's on, me and Alex are going kick some Yankee bottoms
BTW, whats a tye? I remember the Yanks getting a lucky draw but I have no idea what a tye game is?
-
I'm in $20 stake right? Need someone to give me a brief education on this.

Pretty simple Gav, you pick players for your team, QB, RB, etc and based on the stats they accumulate during their games, you get points based on those stats. Each week, you go head to head with another owner and whoever gets the most points that week wins. Essentially, the better your players play, the more you win
-
For those of you that have played before, I have made a few tweaks to the ESPN standard scoring, so pay attention. If the consensus is that you hate them, I can change them before the draft.
1. This is a fraction league, so every yard you get counts. There is nothing worst than a player getting 24 yards rushing and you get nothing for it. Passing yards are 0.04 per yard, rushing yards are 0.1 per yard, receiving yards are 0.01 per yard
2. All games rushing over 100 yards will receive a bonus, 100+ bonus is 3 points, 200+ is 5 points. Same goes for receiving, 100+ is 2 points, 200+ is 5 points
3. This is a PPR(points per reception) league. Each catch is worth 0.25 points
4. A forced fumble, even if not recovered is 1 point, a recovered fumble is 2 points
5. A missed PAT is -1 points. There's no excuse for this IMO
6. I have taken out the scoring system for yardage allowed. The name of the game IMO is keeping points off the board so yardage allowed will not matter
If you have any questions or concerns about these, please discuss, they are up for debate for sure
I will be adding people as they email me. We have 2 divisions. I will be adding to each division alternating back and forth so if the divisions end up being unbalanced, I can not help that. I have put Gavin and Alex, which I presume have the least experience in this in opposite divisions.

Is there support for asynchronous drafts? We may have enough time for something like that.
-
I was thinking it would be cool if it was basically turn based but you had a lot of time to make a selection. Either way is fine but I I don't want weird timing, like during working or sleeping hours…
-
When is the draft?
-
Technically we could do a running draft. People would just post their next selection here. Kinda like the NFL Draft; you'd be on the clock for 24 hours max or I would autodraft for you. If we did that, we would probably want to do it about a month out to make sure we have enough time before the season starts
I really don't want to do an autodraft for sure
On a side note, BEAST MODE is in!
-
BTW, whats a tye? I remember the Yanks getting a lucky draw but I have no idea what a tye game is?
Haha. Yes! Let the smack talking begin!
Mega, a tie is when your nation's best athletes play our nation's bottom-of-the-barrel athletes and everyone decides to go home because they're evenly matched.

In all seriousness, I'm really excited for this league. bagz, I think the rules you've outlined are great. I especially like your defensive scoring system. Hopefully, the fractional yardage isn't too complicated, because I've only ever played one point for every 10 yards gained. I like trying something new, though.
Any thoughts re: flex positions, how many QBs you have to play, etc.?
I prefer deeper drafts, but I suppose we need to wait until we determine how many players we have.
The drafting concept is new to me, also. I'm not sure how plausible it is. ~15 players per team, and let's say 10 teams for now (I think there will be more than that, too) equals a 150 day draft. We may just have to do an online draft and, unfortunately, mess with some people's schedules.
-
Fuck you Yankees make sports complicated :o
Can't I just pick some dudes, and if they're any good I win, and if they're not I don't. Thats the way our Fantasy Football (the REAL football) works
-
One idea (and feel free to poke holes in this concept) for the members that can't fit the online draft into their schedule, is to send bagz a list of their top 200 or so NFL players with their first pick being #1 and descend from there (there are all sorts of FFL rankings lists, so it's not as difficult as it sounds).
bagz could draft for you based on your list; picking the best available player according to your "big board." The only issue I foresee with this is a team being left with too many players of one position, and not enough of the other; so roster judgement may come in to play. This judgement could be reduced by stipulating with bagz how balanced you would like your roster to be (WR dominated, etc.). Also, it doesn't necessarily have to be the commissioner drafting for some else. A member could choose who they want to draft for them.
Just spitballing over here…

Haha. It really is that simple. There is a saying in the US that, "Football is a simple game made complicated by ego." Same can be said for FFL.
If you pick players that play well, you will win. The scoring is all done for you, so it's not really that hard. Also, with ESPN, there is all sorts of FFL rankings and analysis that are updated on a daily basis. The uninitiated can consult the "experts" rankings and very easily decide what lineup to go with that week.
