ThursdayThursdayThursday.
You'll either see pics of em or a PM when they arrive

I used black polish on mine, but it doesn't really stay around too long. Not sure quite how Christophe's got his SOOOO dark as I was notveven coose to the same shade. However in talking with Domingo who runs VEB he relayed to me how he dyed his second pair black and I intend to do this with my first pair as soon as I get them back in my hands from Zip. Glad to know my second pair will be the darker version though
-
Yeah he put a post up on that didn't he?
I like brown. I love black. I super love black with nuances of other shades peeking out as they wear.
-
Love em.

Any thoughts on polishing the OGs with black? I'd like to darken em perhaps, and the evo could be rad.
You won't wanna polish them. They are perfect, and pretty dark. Not light brown like the 2011 version , and they are first run which means the have the mister freedom logo on the outside so its pretty badass

Sweet boots. I've never really been into engineer boots, but you all make a strong case. More pics!

Thanks guys. I saw the Pecard rec. may go obenauf's tho.
Finding a trusty cobbler is the next move. Got to get my cats paw half soles involved.
-
Yep I got both, if LP counts as a conditioner.

No he didnt, there's a blog of his published on the MF site he "greased up several times with neatsfoot oil and polished with BLACK LINCOLN SHOE POLISH"
Take a look… Even the edge of soles were dressed with black polish

Those posts are what I questioned him about. Thise have actuakky been DYED black. He ended up telling me how to do this and saud its tried and true that a lot of marines did this when they still wore the black boots etc. he also did he may post a more thorough step by step in the near future. If you are interested and have questions MCL just throw me a PM. Proceed with caution though as I imagine it could be easy to mess things up.

Yeah, therein lies my trepidation. But damn those look superb!

I would just keep the early Road Champs the color that they are, maybe darken them with some Pecards. But that lighter brown color is awesome and it's practically a collector's item. If I could pick up a pair in my size I totally would. You can always get a pair of black engineer boots. Just my two cents.
-
Fair point. I will see what's what. I do have some cheap ass black Chippewa that look fine.

+1 i even do not treat em atm maybe if they get too beaten up, they will evolve themselves when worn regularly. I treat the leather half sole from time to time though.

Example of the very first run MFRC. Later runs in the first batch and 2nd batch do not have the stamp on the upper shaft, exactly.
