What's your favorite Beer?
-
I like Sir Seul, the Swillin' Swine.
-
Right now the swine is swillin (Chris take notice, you'd love this!):

So I'm going to Geers on Monday with my mate (and his one year old son)… My mate asked me to make a list, as he will blindly follow what I choose simply because our tastes are so similar... He's the best guy to go to Geers with - and best guy all around

-
Did this last night and lived it.
Oude Geuze Tilquin tonight and I'm excited! -
Finally went to a highly recommended beer shop. It looks like a crappy strip center convenience store, but the selection is really, really good. So I picked up these, a couple of which I shamelessly copied from Seul's earlier haul:
And you're right, Eli- I this one is excellent.

Fucking Timmermans… Why Chris, WHHHYYYYYYYYYYYY
What is that Reinaert Wild Ale??? Reinaert's made like 5 miles from me... Glad you liked the Duchesse... The reg Rodenbach is nothing too crazy, but the Grand Cru, well: I really like that'un!.. It's weird how they always seem to sell big bottles of this kinda stuff in the States!..
-
Dean Seul, I think you need to do a list for me
-
Well I'll make you a list anyhow…
I'd get some glasses to start... You need a good Trappistenglass (I would recommend Westmalle), a good snifter (Rodenbach Grand Cru), and a Geuze glass (I see the Tilquin glass is cheapest, but the Cantillon one has that great logo so).

I like the Timmermans. I think the taste varies a lot depending on batch, though. I'm looking forward to the Reinaert and Rodenbach ones. I'll let you know what I think.
-
I know it's not the proper vessel, I'm still working on my glass stable. But this beer blew me away. It's tart, super crisp, and is really earthy/ grassy at the finish. Unlike any beer I've ever enjoyed.
-
Aaaaaah my man… Good choice... It's on my list of beers to pick up today... Can't wait to try it!..
Earthy/ grassy - yes Sir!.. As I always say: a good geuze tastes of manure!.. Which doesn't sound attractive, but once you've had a couple of geuzes, there's no turning back...
Btw: I love that glass!.. Sure it's not a geuze glass but that's one hell of a nice snifter!..
-
Cleaned out my stock dept and fridge… One 12x37.5cl case filled with subpar geuzes that I will drop off at work for the deposit money, 13 various bottles that will go to a mate...
Pro tip: never buy more than one or two of ànything until you're 1.000 % sure you like it... And I'd give the case of geuzes to my beerloving mate but no can do as they're subpar... There's pride in the game...
-
It depresses me to see you bring home a haul of beer, including several that are in my fridge right now, and know that it only cost 75€. Even if I could get all the same ones, (which I can't) it would be double the total.
My local breweries need to step up their sour offerings. I think I'll go tell all of them to revamp their product line to fit my preferences. I'm sure they'll get right on it.
