Self Edge x Iron Heart = SEXIH22-633s

Fit looks good Chris!
I never manage to take any fit pics because I don't really have a good camera for it.
But, it's interesting that you mentioned the pockets because I actually like the size of the pocket opening more than most jeans that I own (and I have too many jeans haha). I felt like they were pretty easily accessible from the start. -
To better illustrate my complaint about the pockets, I did some comparison shots between my size 34 633S and my size 33 634S. Faded 634S on top in all pics (obvi).
We'll start with a straight ahead front shot, with the fly on each pair aligned. As you can see, the beltloops are much farther from the centerline of the 633 than they are in the 634.
Here, you can see how the coin pocket had to be reduced to fit the smaller pocket opening.
This pic shows a bit better how the opening had to be re-cut to accommodate the new belt loop placement. You can see how the upward curve toward the waistband is sharper in the 633.
I'll concede that it's not a massive change, and I'm sure some people will love it and even more people won't care about it at all, but for me, this is bad. The only bad thing about these jeans, in fact, which may be why it bugs me so much- it keeps them from being fantastic.
-
I see the value in a little more space between the front belt loops but I don't think it's worth compromising the pockets.
-
They're less impressive than it looks. I put up a couple of pics in the IH-634S thread. I even put on the same shirt and boots, so the people with too much time on their hands can compare the fits.
-
I wore my 633s all weekend and didn't notice the pockets until you mentioned it, Chris. You are definitely right about the openings being smaller / less accessible. It's not a real issue for me as I rarely carry anything in my front pockets anymore as I hate how the iPhone fades front pockets, especially on slimmer-cut jeans, but I can see how it could bother some people.
Other than that, I've been pleased with these so far. I like that the cut is somewhere in between my work 634s and my 666XHS. The 20oz LHT denim is definitely interesting: dark, rigid but not super-heavy. They feel like they're going to be really soft when they break in properly

great review and pics houston!
that tee shirt & those boots are the break out stars of the photo set.
this!…

Back pockets being too far apart is definitely not a good look. I notice this occasionally with some IH cuts, but not in every fit pic– I don't know if it's certain body types or just larger sizes in general that make it more apparent. I notice it the most with the 634 cut. But again, not in every fit pic.
-
Which models have pockets that are closer together? Currently, I only have the 634 and the 633, and they have the same spacing on the back pockets.
-
The pockets on Iron Heart jeans are placed further apart than on many other jeans on purpose. It is so that you don't sit on so much of the pocket, and contents thereof, when astride your bike. It is a Haraki signature and will not change.
I'm glad for it- I use the back pockets all the time, and if I'm sitting on top of my wallet in the right pocket, it starts to f*** with my back. No fun. Seems like a practical consideration.
-
Considering how rigid this denim was initially, it softens up pretty quickly. I've only worn mine 4-5 times, and they're already getting pretty comfortable.
-
Just purchased a pair and before I even soaked them I could tell the front pockets are going to be a problem. I don't use them much but it is odd how small the opening is. Even smaller compared to my SEXIHXINDO16. Nonetheless, I'm excited to wear these.

any bigger guys take the plunge on the 633s? I'm a tagged 38 on my busters, and the waist on these 38s says 38.5 while the 301s says 39.5
My busters have stretched out to 39.5 - I could maybe go .5 smaller and still be comfy but I'm worried about that 38.5. When I looked at self-edge's waist measurement though it looks like it doesnt directly double the waistline, you can see the V for the lower front rise and they're only measuring the back half.
Does that discrepancy give the extra .5-1 inch I'm looking for?
-
yeah - but wont the shrinkage put me down to 37.5?
I did try on some jeans recently (SG3105) that were 38 inches in the store and I could button them…but I would definitely want some stretch to end up at 38.5-39
