Mornings are great.
Work is also great.
Whatever you're drinking, make mine a double.

@trail:
That's actually a gif from a brilliant Belgian show named In de Gloria… Funny!..
I hesitate to generalize on such short acquaintance but did you use "brilliant" and "Belgian in the same sentence?
-
The superfluous modern enjoyment of coffee in much of the west is a very "middle class white" (mcw) thing to obsess and gush over, in the same bracket as Coldplay, designer furniture and watching films by Wes Anderson.
Personally I'm too much of a low life scum bag with dirt under my fingernails to draw much pleasure from any of that. Beer, footie a game of darts and a fight on Friday night after kicking out time keeps me sweet

Relunctantly: yes.

Given the popularity of ''third wave'' coffee shops in East Asia, it's not really just a white thing. The Japanese (this will surprise you) take it to new levels of obsession and Hong Kong, Taiwan and Korea are not too far behind.
Likewise, it may be broadly middle-class as an interest but it's actually the cheapest thing cup for cup to be tasting as a way of refining your palate in comparison to craft beer, fine wines or single malts etc.
I speak as a fan of beer, football and darts too. Fighting in Mansfield I will leave to you Mega!
-
Another consideration-I never woke up in a puddle of my own vomit after drinking too much coffee.
-
Sugar, I said in the West as I was speaking specifically about the West. In places like Indonesia coffee has a totally different cultural significance.
I have no doubt that Japan and HK have embraced the western approach to coffee enjoyment with the same fervour as they have many other things enjoyed in the west (and vice versa).
No one will ever convince me that paying £5 for a cup of gourmet coffee is reasonable though. Different people, different poisons/ passions.

I missed the ''west'' bit…

Suuuuuure, says the guy with jeans that cost several hundred dollars…

Coffee is a tool, nothing but a blunt instrument. People who wax lyrical about it should drink more beer.
I fixed it for you

Seriously tho, both do something to the nervous system, some like the effect of 1 more than the other. Some like both, some like neither.
On a serious note my coffee habit is like a monkey on my back. I eat ground, dry coffee if I'm running late and need a hit. Literally take a hand full of coffee and eat it. That's when you know it's time to double down!

@Megatron1505 not sure if you are baiting - surely its about teasing out the elements of quality in any medium/piece of culture.
Coldplay - stupid tape on his fingers and he dances like Adam Sandler needing a poo but Yellow was really great when it broke.
Designer furniture - sure you can burn money on gauche crap but an Eames chair is an amazing, enduring design.
Wes Anderson - yeah so he's kinda fey but who wasn't rooting for Mr Fox - dude's got heart.
Coffee - Starbucks can kiss my arse, they have an anodyne, bad tasting product but producing a perfect espresso at home after you have rebuilt your coffee machine is rewarding and delicious (and doesn't cost £5)

Merely expressing an unpopular opinion

You've been to Italy?

Also, as the number of responses to my post suggests, I'm the one being baited

Or Jamaica?

…in the same bracket as Coldplay, designer furniture and watching films by Wes Anderson.
My dislike of coffee is surpassed by my dislike of Coldplay (though I concede that Yellow was a good song) and my mystification at the love of Wes Anderson movies.
-
Coldplay makes me angry, but not as angry as Oasis.
-
Rather hear Oasis anyday then the slit my wrist, cry myself to sleep, please feel bad for me garbage that is Coldplay
