IH-666-XHS - 25oz Selvedge Denim Slim Straight Cut Jeans - Indigo
-
@seamill no expert, but would assume the hot soak 33 would stretch for you, but know the 32 will stretch as well. Either way, you'd be going through a pretty uncomfortable period. This denim is worth the pain though. My hips were bruised for a couple weeks breaking mine in, totally worth it for what's become my favorite jeans ever.
Side note, despite working in them and getting quite dirty. I have resolved not to wash again until I hang them up for the season. I am at a stage where indigo loss is at a peak and can't bear messing up the beauty marks coming through

@seamill. I don't have a clear answer for you, so I'll ramble a bit.
It seems to me, if you are willing to sell and rebuy anyway, that you have little to lose by trading the 32 for the 33, except the risk the waist stretches too much with the 33.
It's not exactly an apples to apples comparison because the 33s have been hot soaked. So you are measuring a hot soaked pair to a "stock" pair. The 32s might tighten up more once they too are hot soaked and therefore measure smaller. Both will stretch some in the thighs whether you soak them or not. And both will stretch in the waistband too. An hour is not enough time to get a sense of what the thighs will do. Mine were a bit painful for a good two weeks of wear before the thighs relaxed enough.
Also, you might end up deciding according to the thigh measurements and then end up with a waist that's too big. That leads me to another possibility - if you are really having trouble sizing according to the thigh measurements, then the 666 model might not be a good fit for you. The 634-XHS might be better. There you can focus on the waist and not worry about the thigh: it will generally have enough room.

Thanks for the info! Funny enough I just sold my 634-XHS because they were too big - haha. I have big thighs but the cut is too wide/relaxed for my proportions (no ass). I actually have a pair of 666S in 33 that fit just fine, but the cut on these seem to be much slimmer. I went through with the trade and they'll be here tomorrow. If they fit at least a little bit like the 32s then I'll put some stock into them stretching and start wearing them. The pain seems to be worth it due to these evo pics

Thanks! I went through with the trade so am hoping they'll stretch enough. I'm in Seattle so I'm gonna pop on over to Blue Owl to see if Jay can handle hemming 25oz

@Haddtoo 555 I'm seriously impressed! Those instantly have a place on my "would love to own them" list. You must have worn them very hard for years?

In the midst of a minor blizzard, so lighting is not the best. However thought I would share some of the highlights of my pair. I really do love this denim, the fit, and character they are developing.
Will take some proper fit shots when snowmaggedon is over. Given it's Valentine's Day though, I had to share my true denim love

Since I rarely see larger guys in these threads, I decided to pick up some of these in a size 40. I have the IH-634S in a tag size 44 that were cut small, actually 42 actual size, and the fit is nice but I wanted a slimmer fit. Big guy in a slim jean!? Yeah… I know. They came in today and I had a hell of a time getting that top button, but I got it.
Fit pics.

I think the denim looks great on you @tailoredfamcam
Way to have the guts to snap a picture and put it up here. 25 oz isn't my favorite IH denim, but it wears really well & looks great. Imho slimmer denim makes me look slimmer than straight cuts
For the record I'm 5 foot 8 inches and go between 210 & 220.
Oh & your sleeves, boots & belt look good as well.
I think u in the right place

Yeah @tailoredfamcam what mm said looks good. Enjoy your jeans

Cool, Haddtoo! You have the right kind of job for rocking denim hard. The likes of me who work at desks can only capitulate… :-\
