Do you guys think getting .2- .3"out of the thigh/knee/hem is gonna be pretty easy?
-
I wanna buy a pair but need atleast .2" shrink through the whole leg. Im "guessing" that they will but…...One of you guys must have taken pre/post measurements
-
@nizzel55
I (once again) would have tried to talk you into one size down….in all likelihood. Enjoy! -

I hot soaked in the fucking scalding water my tub can generate probably for an hour or so. The waist came down from 34.5 to damn near my 33 size. The length came down from 31.5 to probably 30.5.
This is the 634 model FWIW -
That doesnt answer my question MCL lol
-
@501/IH it might have been possible to squeeze into a 31. But this time you cannot talk me into sizing down. I am quite happy with the fit on these. Not super tight around the thighs and legs. But quite tight around the waist.
I have lost some weight since Christmas due to sickness and I guess stress I am down from 80 to 76kg.
Looking forward to seeing these fade. -
Thanks for the reply, Nizzel! I will try and follow suit somewhat as far as the weight loss is concerned. Ideally while staying healthy…

It actually kind of does, (34.5-33)/34.5 = ~4% shrinkage on the denim horizontally
-
Did you happen to measure the legs pre and post soak? Would be much easier no?
-
I didn't, if you work out the math I'd expect around a half inch of thigh shrinkage on a 38 (I can't remember if that or 36 is your size) based on what I provided. Caveat being this is a double-layered waist on a different model and size of jean, just thought a data point could help…
-
Ya no prob man. Just bustin your balls. I had it figured around 3% based off of the website. Gonna wait for a new batch and see it one pair ends up closer to what i want. Im a consistent sz37, which doesnt exist
-
Keep in mind I really boiled mine too
-
I don't understand the contemporary fascination with getting the most skin-tight fit imaginable.
For me, if I cannot kick someone properly in a pair of jeans, the jeans are useless to me.
-
Maybe i missed it earlier but i didnt see anyone asking for a skin-tight fit Northern. Personally im lookin for what i feel is perfect for me and that would be a sz37, which isnt made

I was referring to someone (so not you) that said Nizzel should have sized down, when it's pretty clear from the images this size fits him very well and sizing down will probably result in ball-crushing discomfort.
And people still do this these days (you can see all the rage with slim-tapered jeans far exceeding more relaxed cuts all over the internet in the raw denim community at large).
A stupid trend, IMO. A lot of people don't even look good in those cuts yet they just follow the crowd like a bunch of sheep.

There were far worse times than these regarding sizing down. Just read back on Sufu 2008-2009, APC: can I size 3, 4 or 5 down? If I can't Close the top three Buttons- will they eventually fit me? Samurai: I sized down 1 or 2 in the 710XX and it still doesn't fit Slim/skinny - I thought they were a Slim cut? and so on. Might have been the last wave of the strokes apprectation in europe.
But I'm with you, northern - if a pair doesn't feel at least a bit comfortable from the beginning, I don't want to wear it. Goes for all my clothes - if I feel them restricting me while I move, they're not for me. (Although that was a sign of wealth in the middle Ages - if you couldn't move or work in your clothes, you showed that you could afford not to work).

Man, I'm sort of disappointed I wasn't in the raw denim (or specifically, Japanese denim) game at that time. Not only did I miss out on great jeans, but I also missed out on some hilarious trends, so it seems.
Then again, maybe my idiotic self of the time would have also joined the hive-mind of sheep, so perhaps it was a positive thing in hindsight.

Yeah, it was a fun time, as it was really hard to get some brands and there weren't evos and measurement Information on all the brands out there. It was harder to get the stuff and more pioneering work. That's why I love when new fabrics like The SII drop - you don't know what they will turn out in a few months (unless Giles gives them hell beforehand).
