thanks mad! i love how the shell evolves with the light marks and shiny texture to it. jeans were having their shoot for the hwdc2 final submissions.

@Jii:
@madmonday super nice combo! Nice to see one of my straps getting proper use. Haven't done any leatherworking in a loooong time..
Which makes me want to stroll down memory lane to the first post in this thread..
@Jii:Here's a wallet I made earlier this year that gets a lot of use:
Here's the same wallet today Used almost daily for over 4 years. Jeans arent that crisp either at this point but still in rotation

You get what you pay for. You paid for a lifelong companion and it looks like you got it. Beautiful patina on that piece!
Twizm, I have that same RM but yours looks 100x better!

wow thats quite damaging.. hahahaha thanks for the reply!
what @Anesthetist said was right. it's a fair price for shell cordovan and the ageing on shell cordovan is something that i find really amazing and beautiful. to be honest i can't see myself having another wallet for the predictable future. i've currently have 2 shells. one from shiniki and one from horween, and the horween shell beats the shiniki one by miles..

@louisbosco i totally believe in paying for lifetime gears too. and how would you justify the difference in quality of goods made from shinki shell vs horween shell leather?? i've heard shinki shell being more plasticky..
-
@nikkiong well, the feeling on both is hard to tell by words. but when you feel them, you can tell the difference. as for me, what sets it apart is that i feel there's more oil to the horween shell, where if you just run your finger over the top and you can feel the oils in the processing of the leather and how smooth it is. the texture is just worlds apart.
also, as a personal preference, i prefer the smooth underside of the horween shells as compared to the net-like texture of the under side of shiniki's shell i've handled. the aesthetics of horween's shell is beautiful at first side. but like i said, once you run your fingers over the leather, you'll immediately know what i mean.

I recently got my Japanese wallet in the mail – breaking er in... I just noticed the 1st indigo stain on it, which was caused by a pair of IR 634's I can't wait to watch it darken with use. I have started back pocketing the wallet at work, not just on my off time, to kickstart the aging process.
