IH-666-XHS - 25oz Selvedge Denim Slim Straight Cut Jeans - Indigo

@hajduk @den213 Thank you guys. @xtcclassic Thank you too, and your XHS look great on you. Really well fitted. I'm severely bothering poor @Sam at the moment with some rather idiosyncratic measuring requests to find the right pair for me. He's making a tremendous effort so fingers crossed I'll have my pair in a week or so…
-
@Giles and thread users: @Sam has done a great job in finding two possible pairs of these for me, but I'd like to get the input of people who've used these jeans before I decide.
Sam has a tagged 35 with a 35,2" waist and 12,6" thighs. These will fit me, albeit, quite snugly out of the bag and if they were the 21oz denim they would be perfect because of the stretch. He also has a tagged 36 with a 36,2" waist and a 12.8" thigh. I'm considering these because of the shrinkage issue. If they were the 21oz they would end up too big in the waist, but are they the safer bet given the rumoured shrinkage in the 25oz and the nature of the denim otherwise?
Any input is valued as always.

These stretch too, and I have owned 3 pairs. I don't think they shrink much at all. But, the denim does thicken up when you wash them.
-
In my view, the 666 always looks better when worn snugly. So my recommendation is for the smaller size. Any wearing in of a 666 is a bit of hard work and some possible initial discomfort at first, which will be well worth it.
-
@501/IH You are so right. These stretch a lot. I sized down on my current pair of 25 XHS MBBs and the fit is most excellent now. The waist stretched from a 32 to a 35.5.

I'm going to chime in with my opinion on the 25oz denim one more time… I know everyone has a different opinion on soaking. But, I'd advise against soaking the 25 oz denim. I never soaked my current pair and am going on month 4 of everyday/all day wear. The denim gets soft without soaking, and the range of colors/ fade seems to be more beautiful than in the past when I soaked. The stacks, combs , and creases are certainly more pronounced, more dramatic than my 2 old pairs.
I always thought soaking was mandatory, but I noticed @swiss-jeansfreak pair, and he never soaked his. And, his pair are freaking awesome!!
My advice is: don't soak the 25oz denim. I don't think I'll be able to go without ever washing these ever. But, I am going to try and keep this pair far away from water as long as I can.

Love the waterless approach! Already beginning to look good, keep at it
-
I'd go 35 also, as long as the thigh measurement will fit. Mine fit snugly as well, but not uncomfortably so, and like @Filthy25ozJunkie says, the waist will stretch. I disagree about the no soaking thing though, just because when spending this much on a pair of jeans I want to take every precaution that they will last as long as they possibly can with no crotch blowouts, and I think soaking helps in this regard.
-
@xtcclassic I gave my pair a spot crotch soak with boiling hot water in a mister the first week 3x times. But, unless you're one of this bicycle riding types, I think the denim is more than capable of not blowing out. I hit the combs with a mister every time they need a stiffening up.

Sounds like a hardcore plan to keep your jeans thirsty !!!!!!
Keep us updated on them -
You are my hero @swiss-jeansfreak

My recent experience with this denim is that it shrinks significantly in hot water, with agitation. I buy things roomy now, hot wash them to get the shrinkage out of the way, and then have no worries. (Your balls will be happy with that advice.)
@BloodnThunder @xtcclassic @den213 I'm doing my research on these at the moment. Did you guys that soaked notice any shrinkage? As I understand it there's a little but I've heard some say not really..
-
finally got my measurements thinking about getting these.. quick question though is it necessary to soak these before wear? how bad is the shrinkage compared to the measurements after soak?
It is better to, but not 100% necessary. Hardly any shrinkage….
You'll get a 32 to 33.5 eventually, but they will be bloody uncomfortable to start with. The shrink back a little with a wash, but stretch right back out again….

Those IH jeans at this Hall of Fade are looking great indeed. Awesome natural denim evo seen here!!!

@den213 @hajduk @BloodnThunder @Filthy25ozJunkie @xtcclassic @Bob @Giles @501/IH @Sam - Thank you all for your input. After trawling all the 25oz threads and have a jolly good think, I'm going with the tagged 35". My usual policy for sanforised denim is no soak, wear hard until they're too dirty or smelly for company, then wash a 30 degrees with very low spin; and I think that should serve me well here. While an initial hot soak/wash would make these work, I think the stretch would be too much after a couple of months for a good fit long term.
Of course all that might go to hell and that case I'll see y'all in the sales threads

This is especially what makes me think 35 is the way for me to go. I notice others have said 2" stretch is do-able. I got 2" stretch off my 666 ducks which shouldn't stretch that much at all. I'll need these to end up at around 36.5. So I should be ok…
