The Flat Head
-
I haven't worn my SExFHxRJB for a while so I wore them today for chores and while painting my garage. I forgot how good that Flathead/RJB denim is and how turquoise-blue they are. This pair is a little bit slim for my taste now, but I like them all the same.

Hi Flat Headers, I wonder if someone can school me on the level of shrinkage I can expect on a pair of 3012s?
They are the ones I want but am unsure of sizing. I need a 32, so should I grab a 32 knowing it will shrink about 1'' to 1.5'' and wait for stretch?
Anyone with experience with this fit and/or denim?

Hey @Anothercaller , the 3012s use the Pioneer denim, same as many of Flat Head jean models… Information about shrinkage of this denim is pretty widely available. I'm usually a 32 in most brands, I went with a 33 in the 3012. The waist on mine measures 32". They have been machine washed many times. Hope that helps! Let me know if you need any other measurements.
One more thing, are you sure you really want this model? The fit is kind of strange. The taper is very strong. I don't really wear these anymore because of how much they taper. They don't look terrible or anything, and they are definitely not a skinny fit, but I wish they were wider fitting from the knee down. (This is like the opposite of a reddit post, "Guys does anybody know a tailor that can un-taper my jeans??") Anyway, definitely recommend some Flat Head denim, just be sure to check out all of their different fits. You can never go wrong with a classic straight cut.

Hey man, thanks for the advice.
It's taken me a while to find this fit and yes I do want the taper!
As regards shrinkage, I'm a 32 as well so wasn't sure if sizing up to take into account shrinkage or not. Seems like this is what you did?
Anyhow, appreciate you taking the time to shed some light on it for me.

You don't remember what the 33 waist started at in terms of actual measurement by any chance?

Absolutely stonking jacket and combo @zatenm ..Looks like the TFH Cafe Racer? I've hardly worn mine but need to before it gets too cold in the UK and then have an agonising wait for next year
-
Zatenm looks sooo damn good!! In a few years we're going to have a jacket-off and see whose looks best

42 sounds too big man, I have a pic in 38 and 40 if it helps. I'm a 40 in fh

Thanks! Looking forward to it @grandmasterben [emoji106][emoji4]
It's a weird sizing for me too @TrickHell. The shoulders are on the large side compared to the chest (I also see that same shoulder- heavy ratio on a couple of TFH shirts I have, must be the way the brand sizes up its tops).. BUT somehow it works [emoji106][emoji106]
Works best / great for me over an IH shirt, medium to heavy. I think the same might apply to yours…..Thank you kind Sir @Finkster

I measured my Schott and emailed Kiya. The 42 was his rec.
If it helps, mine is 42 as well and I'm usually a 38 (in IH). I tried the 40 in the shop and it was a clear no - I couldn't close it and /or lift my arms. I can do 40 if I remember well in the Buco though.. Weird sizing across [emoji53]

Ironhearters, some advice please.
I bought a pair of Flat Head denim the other day (3012) and had started the soak, shrink, wear, stretch process.
However to my dismay, one of the rivets has popped off, please see attached pics.
I'm not new to raw denim, I have experience with LVC shrink-to-fit and a few one-wash Omnigods. So to see this happen on the top button really makes me think about returning these.
They came from 2nd Shop on Rakuten so we'll see about how good they are about returns/exchanges but I have a feeling this may be a tricky one. For a pair of £200+ jeans this is not what I expected.
Advice and help please!

Yeah, I hear you both, I'm trying not be a whinger but for a pair of extremely expensive denim I was hoping for a little more robustness!
I have emailed 2nd and will report back for those in a similar situation.
@Giles do you still take care of FH interest in Europe? If I encounter any resistance would you be able to help?
