What is everyone's favourite detail on their IH jeans?
-
Not on the jeans but the buttons/rivets/buckle on my IHxVS-T1 were submerged in Kojima Bay for 3 months before being added to the jacket. Easily my favorite detail.
For jeans….. The fully lined back pockets or the initial battle you have with a new pair where the jeans begin your enemy and slowly become your friend.

I adore the look, feel and weight of IH's denims. They're all unique and incredible on their own, their construction and quality is second to none. Details like sewn-in belt loops, the tidy selvedge fly or lined back pockets are the cherry on the cake. It doesn't get better than this.

Of all my pairs, the details on my DC4 are my favorite. A selvedge belt loop, off set rear belt loop, half lined pockets, and ghost arcs. I also really love the IronHeart tab at the coin pocket and DC4 embroidery. It's definitely one of the most detailed pairs of IH that I own and I wouldn't mind more of these features in more pairs. I also like a selvedge fly although I dont think it serves any function.

I like the hidden W on my back pocket of my MBB's which is now become visible as they have faded. Lined back pockets are bloody lovely too.

My favorites are the functional details: the selvedge fly and the triple stitched inside leg seam (on the 705, 814…).
Both details prevent inevitable deterioration longer than the lesser options. The inside leg/crotch seam gets the most abuse on my pairs and so far, in my experience, the triple stitch wears away slower and retains its structural integrity longer than a double stitch.
The selvedge fly does indeed have a function. After years of wear, the fly on my xhs have worn down and allowed the edges of the denim to start unraveling (albeit just slight unraveling):
Conversely, my sr's that are the same age look like this:
Those are the details that scream durability. But there are so many others. The unique fabrics that have been created are really what I value most of all. Thank you.

Hey that's not fair! Guess I walked right into that…
How else was I supposed to say it, lol? It's always the first place that needs to get repaired on my jeans. The 705 & the 814 are holding up much better with the triple stitch.

Nope. I only mentioned it, because @neph93 has a filthy mind…....

It's true it's true

Nothing like a bit of crotch abuse on a Thursday evening.
On a serious note, yes to all the pocket bag mentions. The ones on my xhs are thick and luxurious and the herringbone bags on the BB's are especially good. My 301 pocket bags have a hole in them so they leave me feeling cocky…..
I'll get my coat.

The stitching, my mother was a professional seamstress and everytime I got a new pair of jeans or boots
the first thing she'd do was put on her reading glasses and look at the stitching under the light.
She said the quality was in the stitching, by how even it was and how well it was put together.
The stitching on all 9 pairs of my IH jeans ( and jacket ) are perfect, and believe me, nothing will catch
your eye faster than uneven stitching. -
The denim. Unlike anything.

My XHS have a selvedge fly…
And I love it. One of my favorite details too!
I also like the hidden rivets, and the durability of the pocket bags.IG - @leatherdenimboots

Pretty much as above.
It's not any of the small, individual details for me, but the sum of the parts and aspects that have been considered which when brought together make up the whole.
In other words the ethos or approach which gives rise to the finished product is my favorite detail.

My favorite detail is the variance in threads used among one pair of jeans. I remember Giles saying on the Reddit AMA that H-San uses something like 12 (I could be wrong on this large number) different types of thread while making a single pair of jeans. Love the idea that every density and build of thread serves a unique and individual purpose.

The selvedge on the fly and the watch pocket?
The lined pockets with that nice tough fabric?
The hidden rivets?
The super tough polycotton thread?
Those lovely belt loops that are sewn into the waist band?
The zinc buttons?
The cool IH arcs on the back pockets
The red W?
The fantastic fabrics? (though i'm reluctant to call that as a detail as it's fundamental)All the above. Plus the super thick leather patch, the rich blue color of the denim, the heavy-duty pocket bags, and the taped front pocket openings on some pairs like my 666-XHS. I'll stop now before I go full fanboy.
