IHSH-163 - Wool Work Shirt - Grey, Charcoal and Olive
-
Mine should arrive today. Haven't been quite this excited for an IH product in some time. Scared shitless about sizing. Just like old times [emoji16]
Exciting to have a shirt make you feel like a newbie though isnt it [emoji1]

Mate, you're so right.
(It's here now, it fits, and it's bloody lovely).

Looking forward to that

Wanted to thank the IH crew for the execution on this wonderful wool work shirt.
I've been trolling along on the forums, but this one is too awesome not to share. The buttons are an especially nice touch that the lady complimented on immediately.
Compared to my UHF, yes it feels like wool. But it really has a smooth hand and wears next to the skin quite nice…not a bit of an issue wearing this one today in the crisp Colorado fall morning without a jacket.
My shovel hands stick a bit in the sleeve openings, especially on the way out if still buttoned, but other than that the fit matches well to my other IH gear in a L.
I'm planning on dry cleaning or washing extremely cold and delicate and flat drying to avoid any changes in fit.
Thanks also to the dedicated forum crew...you may not know it, but you make my decisions so much easier, or possibly tougher, but definitely more informed.

Just a few quick notes on this shirt in lieu of better pictures than I posted yesterday. I agree completely with @budpatch that this is a winner. The weight to warmth ratio is spectacular and the fabric itself is lovely. I own a few UHF's (don't we all? ) and no, it doesn't have the softness of those but imho it's a much more interesting fabric in it's own right. As @zatenm notes the cut is slightly different to other workshirts, Straighter through the body and without any flare at the opening, so it seems smarter. The very even, uniform hand of the material adds to this impression. I'm unsure as to why G and Sam sized up as I wear my standard XL and it fits well. Might have to do with length?
Overall I had high expectations for the shirt and I'm happy to say it meets them. It's absolutely one of the best IH items I own. Whether it retains that position will very much depend on how it wears, but suffice to say its that good, I'm considering buying another. Also I don't know if there are any plans afoot but I'd love to see this material used for other shirts, CPO's, westerns etc. I suspect it depends on how much Haraki-san digs it

@neph93 I have to agree. It's brand new to me so I'm hesitant to say it is one of my favorites, but I have a feeling once the honeymoon phase wears off it will still be one of my go to's. I'm also now questioning why I didn't pick up an olive to go with my grey.

Yeah, for sure, I'm basing that on right out of the blue bag first wear, but also the fabric, construction and details. Like you say, how it develops will determines how I rate it later.
With regards to the details, the buttons are certainly worth a mention. Unlike any other buttons I've seen on IH gear, they are oversized and really attractive. Also the double button on the cuff is great, adds to the military feel of the shirt.
It was always going to be the olive first for me. The charcoal is nice but I have too many dark shirts as it is. I'm trying to hold off asking G to source a grey for me. I'm standing fast at the moment but my resolve may fail at any time so if any of you owners of the grey out there feel tempted to post pictures, then consider my bank balance before enabling me further
