Engineers…

I'd quite like some, but alas being a poor country mouse I can't spring for some Wesco, Buco, Clinch or the like. Was thinking along the lines of some Frye's. Anyone any other ideas or feedback on Frye's, the missus has a few pairs (non-Engineers) that are great quality.

I have a pair of MiA Frye's that I got before getting my Wesco's. It's hard to say anything nasty about the Frye's but it's also hard to say anything nice about them, having now owned Wesco's. Whereas I understand Wesco's take a large financial commitment, I'd seriously consider saving until you can get some rather than getting Frye's now.
The middle way would be RW's or Chippewa's. I'd recommend both over Frye's.

Yes @neph93 my only irk with the Frye's is they seem a little 'Fashiony' rather than functional/utilitarian if that makes any sense. To be fair the Wesco are only about £150 more but still a fair chunk of change either way, and I guess think are only going to get more expensive with exchange rates the way they are… maybe I should just save up till Autumn/Fall

I would highly recommend it. When you put hands on the Wesco's you know for sure where all the money went and it suddenly doesn't seem so much after all.
Ironically, a lot of the money for the Frye's will be for the brand name. All the money for the Wesco's will be in the boot.

Funny how quickly what originally seemed like an excessive amount to spend becomes completely reasonable. Suddenly the $500 boots and $300 shirt feel like the best value compared to what you're getting. It's the cheap things in your life that seem like a waste of money.

@neph93 Just ordered the Westco's thanks again for the pointers…
My pleasure and congratulations! I hope (and anticipate) you'll be satisfied. Look forward to hearing what you think.
I've just ordered my second custom build through Giles. I'll have to wait a couple of months for mine though. It's hell to be honest [emoji23]

It makes it hard to wear junk. Wesco being good example. your feet aren't supposed to hurt after wearing work boots all day.
